this one looks good -- strange casting, tho, to put Pitt in the role of the father.. maybe it's because the audience already knows him as a sort of "young stud," and not the paternal type...

I liked the movie overall, but exactly because of what's represented in these clips my opinion went down considerably. I think killing everyone is a poor substitute for a meaningful ending to a movie that had so much built up tension. I almost felt like Scorcese gave up trying to figure out what to do next and said, "Awww, just kill everybody."


OMG I couldn't agree more. This movie was SO GOOD, it would be among my top 5 favorite movies ever, but then it pulled this bull**** at the end. The moment that DiCaprio's character was killed the movie went from epic to not worth watching again. Although the plot got a little wonky right before that, why would DiCaprio want to personally confront Damon and not just mail a copy of the evidence to the DA?

Scorcese.. makes me want to cry. He's so good.

Yeah, good call on Wiseguys. I think the only thing they left out was Henry Hills circumcision.

Get Shorty was an excellent adaptation. elmore leonard has a snappy paperback style that plays well onscreen. especially when it's that well-cast, shot, and edited (as was again true for Out of Sight and Jackie Brown).

i'd read 'Wiseguy' long before Goodfellas was made, and found it a remarkably good adaptation even for scorcese. it's all in there. right down to how karen hill used to hold her thumb and forefinger apart to indicate how thick a stack of hundreds she wanted to go shopping with.

Get Shorty was an excellent adaptation. elmore leonard has a snappy paperback style that plays well onscreen. especially when it's that well-cast, shot, and edited (as was again true for Out of Sight and Jackie Brown).

How Scorcese or DeNiro didn't win awards for this is beyond me. One of the best films of all time.

AFAIR, Scorcese only added one kill to the Infernal Affairs script, all other deaths were already in the original.

Actually, I think it was a charity lay. Scorcese got ripped off a number of times previous, so the academy felt like they owed him.
