Our girl kitty has a similar purr. One of her nicknames is 'squawkles', cuz it sort of sounds like a bird sqawk put through a purr grinder.

Big cats differ from domestic cats in lots of ways but one of the less obvious ways is that they can only purr on the exhale. You can hear this in the video, the leopard purrs for what seems a long time but then has to stop to breath in and then the purr starts again. Domestic cats can purr continuously :0)

Cats do purr when sick or badly injured. The way this cat is acting, I wonder.
