Self-Driving Cars Are Coming Right For Us

newtboy says...

In order to go anywhere, I either have to drive 6 hours to SF or add $500+ for airfare to take a puddle jumper/prop airplane from here to there. That trip has gotten really old, as has the 12-16 hour drive to LA. I SO wish this tech would be perfected, I would rent one every time I had to make the trip if I can't buy one.
I've been driving for over 30 years...I'm over it. Certainly there are times when I want control, but there are more times when I just wish the car would take me home and I could pass out from exhaustion. The Tesla update isn't quite there yet, but it's a big step in that direction....once they get there, I just need someone to hand me a Tesla and I'm set. Oprah...I'm looking in your direction.

Most Insane Footage Yet From The China Explosion

Maybe you're right, but to me that didn't sound like jubilation or delight. It sounded like awe and adrenaline mixed into shock. I even took their decision to "go down" at the end as a hint that they may have been going to try to *help* anyone that was caught closer to the blast(s).

I don't mean this to be a "cool story bro" or "internet tough guy" thing, but: About a year ago there was a house fire (pretty roaring fire, but limited to 1 room) across the street from me. Nobody was home, but I didn't know that at the time. When I saw it, verbally my brain went to mush -- I was just saying "oh shit" about like these guys, over and over. But, the adrenaline and thinking that someone might be stuck in the house whipped me into action. I ended up putting out a good chunk of the fire with hose and buckets before the fire department got there about 15 mins later, and the firemen later said that it may well have spread out of control if I hadn't gotten a partial jump on it.

BUT, in my adrenaline fueled shock, I had forgotten to put on shoes, and had cut up my bare feet a bit by running around on glass that the fire had broken out of a window. Plus, I had rather stupidly been pumping in water via hose and bucket, while standing in a puddle, next to a house that still had mains power going into it...

After the event, my wife specifically said that I had sounded "weird" and not like myself, and hadn't really been particularly coherent in verbalizing what I was planning to do. Anyway, due to the shock and surprise, I'm ready to give these dudes the benefit of the doubt with regards to their weird and potentially "inappropriate" sounding voices and statements.

Nah, I have pretty solid confidence I would never react to a disaster with jubilation. I've witnessed some hairy shit in my life (nothing this massive of course), but I've never reacted by prancing about just absolutely tickled pink with joy.

Speaking of other videos, how many of the other people who caught this on tape sounded like these fucking retards? I've watched many. I've heard none.

In a word...yes. In more words, obstructionist republicans, and spineless democrats are who I blame.
Being behind or not putting forth issues that need consideration/committee is far different from actively denying votes on almost any legislation, which has been the republican MO since Obama was elected. They seemingly decided "Just say no" had to work for something, and since it wasn't drugs, perhaps it was politics.
Not true, they simply didn't get most of what they wanted when they held no power (that's how politics often works), on the other hand, as the minority they still managed to paralyze the democrats...so I must agree with your last statement, the poor are poorer and the middle class is also, and the democrats failed to effectively lead us out of the Bush fiasco. I have little love for democrats either, but less for republicans.
Yes, I recognized Puddles, and found the image appropriate. The old school mic is a dead giveaway.

There were around 400 bills sitting on Harry Reids desk being blocked for consideration.

Republicans were shut out from damn near all discussion in the House and Senate.

Be that as it may the poor are poorer and the middle class have slipped downward also. Failed leadership.

Its Puddles the sad clown.

No sir, you are the one who claims the democrats had, and spent more money in the last 2 elections, and now that the republicans are the champion of the middle class (rather than it's most fervent enemy)....apparently because Faux told you so. I propose YOU are living in opposite land.
The middle class, along with nearly everyone else (not the top 1%), was screwed long and hard by the Bush administration and republican congress. True enough the democrats didn't stop them, nor did they fully solve the disaster they were left with 6 years ago. It was not, however, democratic policies that decimated the middle class, nor was it democratic policy that kept it that way, it is the obstructionist republicans insisting on continuing their own disastrous policies, and democrats never insisting on an actual filibuster (by republicans) to halt political progress, but accepting the mere threat of filibuster and giving up far too easily.
Claiming that the republicans have or will work FOR the middle class is either disingenuous or coming from the completely uninformed. (EDIT: please note that the economy has ALWAYS done better under democratic leadership than it has under republican leadership....every cycle in the last 50+ years, and the economy has been the republicans main issue that entire time.) Remember, it's proven repeatedly that those who listen to/watch "fox news" are consistently LESS informed than those who watch/listen to NOTHING. I think that's what's happened here.

EDIT: Love the new, totally appropriate 'sad clown king' avatar!

Ridiculous!

"This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!' -Douglas Adams
