There's something wrong with all those pictures...all of those camps are almost completely empty. What's the story with that? There must be a reason...such as those staying there are not allowed to work, but must still pay for food and services, or something else untenable. People would not be paying thousands of dollars for a chance to take their familys on an overloaded rubber raft across dangerous waters and continuing on a dangerous voyage through hostile countries to unknown possible places of refuge if there was a reasonable, safe place for them on the border of Syria.
Also, to be sure, tent cities are less than ideal in Southern Turkey where the temperature is often deadly....but they are better than nothing.
I'm not sure, beyond the smugglers getting them to Greece and food on the trail, what the Syrians might pay for that helps them reach Europe. The train tickets they're buying don't cost much, do they? Certainly not the thousands they pay the smugglers....but perhaps paying the smugglers is what you mean.

Isn't there a little barometric device that automatically deploys your chute if you reach a certain altitude? Might not be standard issue. Losing consciousness, for all sort of reasons, can't be all that uncommon while skydiving.

As for why, I dunno. Some epileptics have seizures very, very rarely (like once every few years), and the medication works pretty well. I have epileptic friends who legally drive. You do need a doctor to say it's cool, though.

Of course, he may not even have epilepsy. Might be seizing for some other reason (like skydiving adrenaline awesomeness/mortal terror overload).

I suppose my main issue with it is that I'm a decent enough guitarist that I can play almost all the riffs without too much trouble but I find the note highway an information overload for leads.

How is this a myth? What is the supposed content of this myth? And the video? Some people throw like girls, then throw even more like girls with their other hand. Then this lady comes up who can throw and is commended for throwing like a man. What?

If you are a man and someone says you throw or run like a girl everyone understands what that means. It means they want to find out if you also fight like a girl.

If you are a girl and you do something like a girl - that doesnt actually merit conversation. Or insult. Ambiguity overload. Could mean anything.

Throwing with your left hand. That has more to do with your favored hand and favored eye than practice and technique. My younger son is right handed but has a dominant left eye. He can hit a target equally well with either hand, same "form". He can probably throw a bit farther with his right hand but not by much. Not so good trying to aim a gun - try holding a weapon in your right hand and aim with your left eye. He shoots like a girl (yes I know there are many girls who can shoot) but he can throw like a man with both hands. For basketball, tennis, ice-hockey, soccer - very useful to be ambidextrous. Probably also skiing, snowboarding, surfing, because you care less about which way you are turning.

Why would you want to take practice and technique out of the equation anyway - throwing like a girl is not just about strength, it´s about attitude and motivation and will to compete. And technique.

And girls very obviously have different techniques to men in sports that rely a lot on strength and aggresivity. Some girls practice with men and apply masculine techniques, others try to find their own way. No one tells Sharapova that she hits the ball like a girl - but that is certainly exactly what she does, compared to Nadal, no insult intended.

Andy Murray now has a female coach, I am sure he will be very careful not to appear to be hitting the ball like a girl.

If you have the same equipment and strength matters you cant help having a different technique.

If all that matters is skill (lets say youre throwing a light ball a short distance at a target) I would expect not much gender difference.

It depends on how you define "work". I've done it before; in Finland going from BRUTALLY hot sauna (like 90's C hot) to a lake that was probably just above freezing. You don't want to stay in long, but the cycle puts you into sensory overload mode and it feels really good unless you push the time spent in either extreme too long.

I've also done it in Colorado with less of an extreme temperature gap. Saunas in the US usually run a lower temperature (usually they try to keep them under 120 F or so) but you can make them feel hotter by pouring water on the heater stones to crank up the humidity. I've gone from that to rolling around in snowdrifts, and the effect is again quite nice as long you don't stay in the snow too long (probably under a minute).

Maybe I just have genetics like those crazy Polar Bear Club dudes.
