Tribe Meets White Man for the First Time

Strangely fascinating. The look in their eyes of fear with fierce overlay, poison bolt at the ready for any trap.

Cricket chirps slowed down sound like a human choir!

bamdrew says...

I think they not only slow the recordings down but also pitch-shift the recordings up to be 'close' to a human voice in frequency (and then there is nothing to stop you from further moving this frequency around to hit different notes, as I think the artist did). @VaginalOintment

Plus they confusingly have layers of chirps still overlayed with the 'choir' sound... so its really a mess in terms of the claims being made (and I didn't upvote)

Glass staircase not dress friendly (men don't agree)

Asmo says...

Any staircase where you can see people walking up it can be an opportunity for a bit of upskirt action, particularly for short mini's or A line skirts...

Just put an opaque overlay on the glass and be done with it, problems solved, no one offended.

Fake Russian Guy Tries to Shoot While Peppersprayed

kceaton1 says...

Don't be a beach... That phrase will kill me forever now. I was laughing pretty good at just that. God am I glad simple things can make you smile.

/About the Russian accent... It's possible that this guy has been moving around or even been living in old soviet era block countries. It's hard to tell if someone is faking as they can be "prolific" travelers; which can easily add small nuances to his accent making it sound fake when it isn't. Though, it most likely means he has some Yippee ki-yay (MF), and extended Russian block accents, that overlay his tried and true accent. Who knows just wait for someone to come back from his Youtube or Facebook profile.

Zero Punctuation: Dragon Age II

Ariane says...

Every change they made from DAO to DA2 was bad. In DA2, Combat is a confusing mess. Crafting, runes, armor, and even weapon mods are all completely pointless, tacked on as an after thought, and you can easily complete the game without any of that stuff. The interface was overkill. The DA:O interface is as easy to use as wikipedia, the DA2 interface felt like someone wrote a crappy and unnecessary flash overlay for wikipedia.

The change most people seemed to enjoy the most was the fact that the player character has a voice in this game. And yet oddly, I am more satisfied with the lack of voice in DA:O, because it required some imagination on my part. I felt attached to my Warden, where as in DA2 I felt detached, like I was watching a fictional character play out a story. Worse yet there are no maps in DA2, even though all the locales are attached o one another. The lack of geography added to the detachment.

Which brings me to comparing stories. DA2 had a very linear story. There were no game changing decisions to be made until half way through act 3, where you have to decide on Mages vs Templars, and that would decide what ending you get. DAO had half a dozen major decisions, and a couple a dozen minor ones, and new story arcs always opened up depending on your choices. In DAO, I controlled the fate of Ferelden, and in DA2 I was forced to surrender to fate.

Bottom line, DA2 did not really feel like a true RPG. Its like they left the RP part out and I was playing just a G (video game). Had they kept the DAO engine, and DAO combat, and DAO crafting, and NPC customization, and just made some graphic improvements, the game would have been a hell of a lot more fun.

AHA - EUREKA!

Yes, Mono is the issue. I only use one side of the headphones at work.
At home on my laptop though, I'm going to have to look into that - the volume level has been lower than I expect lately, I guess something got changed somewhere - I'll have to go looking for what's going on.

Thanks (...so blatantly obvious once it's pointed out!)

It's because you don't hear the left channel. He only talks into the left channel.

OK, too make myself clear - Something is wrong here.

When I listen to this video (both at home on my PC and at work on my Mac) I can hear the girl talking but as soon as it switches to him, his voice is dubbed over/replaced with music. Absolutely nothing can be heard from him. I've tried going directly to his Tube site and I've looked for other versions but everything I see, has the same music overlay.

Either something is messed up (Region Blocking?) or you guys are messing with me - hearing the same as me and pretending you can hear him (??)

*Confused!

His voice is in the left channel, music in the right. Maybe the balance is set to right?

"iPad 2" review!

Should we have a *graphic tag? (Sift Talk Post)

campionidelmondo says...

@kronosposeidon is right, there isn't any room for additional tags and honestly, it would get really convoluted if any more tags are added on top of the existing ones. My suggestion would be to make an overlay a la FlashBlock that warns you more specifically about the nature of the content before you get to the video itself. However I'd reserve that for the more extreme cases, because I'd be annoying if every NSFW video had such an overlay.

Thor - First trailer

How awful is the theater you go to that you can see feet and people kick your seat? I never see shoes and my seat is never kicked. No stadium seating or what?>> ^budzos:

Crowd involvement is not the point of the cinematic experience. Sure, appropriate crowd reaction can enhance a good movie. But bad crowd behaviour can turn any movie into a pressure cooker of rage for me.
Movement of feet is the most annoying thing to me lately. Not just kicking my seat, but people putting their feet up in your field of view and then kicking/wiggling them around for the whole GD movie. I might be wired a bit differently, I know my memory's a bit more visual than most people... Let's just say my memory of the last Indiana Jones movie, and that movie Knowing from last year, among others, are permanently etched with an overlay of dumb-ass feet kicking around. At Crystal Skull some guy with like size 14 feet had just bought brand new bright white sneakers. He kicked his fucking foot so frenetically, and with a varying rhythmn that I just COULD NOT ignore out of the corner of my eye. When I asked him to stop he just said "what the fuck" and continued. So I spent the second half of that movie weighing the costs and benefits of an aggravated assault charge. Not enjoyable!
>> ^poolcleaner:
People at the theater are fun! That's the point of the experience. Cheering, screaming at the scary scenes, laughing, awws and maybe a little crying by someone off in the the far corner of the theater. Oh man, I love that stuff. I used to think I hated humanity, but I fucking love it and all because of theaters. Little babies GET THE FUCK OUT. I will have your mother escorted out by a theater worker because I give a shit about this experience. I will see it in 3D and pretend I'm a kid in the 1950s and that I didn't just spend 15 bucks on a movie ticket. Silver fucking lining and just good ol fun, alright?
