Videogamer Kills Burglar With His Samurai Sword
(CNN) -- A Johns Hopkins University student killed an apparent burglar with a samurai sword after discovering the man in his garage, police said Tuesday.
Baltimore, Maryland, police received a phone call shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday about a suspicious person, and an off-duty officer arrived at the scene with campus security, city police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
When authorities arrived, they heard calls for help and for police, he said. They discovered a suspected burglar with a severed left hand and severe lacerations to his upper body, Guglielmi said.
The suspect died at the scene, he said.
The man had entered a home where several Johns Hopkins students lived, Guglielmi said. Four students, one armed with a samurai sword, had confronted the suspect in the garage.
The man "lunged" at the students, and the student with the sword defended himself, severing the man's left hand and cutting his upper body, Guglielmi said.
Police did not release the name of the suspect, who Guglielmi said had a long criminal history, or that of the student.
Police questioned the three witnesses, Guglielmi said, and released them. It was not immediately clear whether all four students lived at the house, he said.
Authorities are determining whether the student will face criminal charges, Guglielmi said.
Burglars had taken two laptops and a Sony PlayStation from the students' home Monday, Guglielmi said.
The burglary suspect had been released from prison Saturday, Guglielmi said.

Tom Waits - Tom Traubert's Blues (waltzing matilda) live
Wasted and wounded, it ain't what the moon did
I've got what I paid for now
see ya tomorrow, hey Frank, can I borrow
a couple of bucks from you, to go
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing
Matilda with me
I'm an innocent victim of a blinded alley
and I'm tired of all these soldiers here
no one speaks English, and everything's broken
and my Stacys are soaking wet
to go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing Matilda with me
now the dogs are barking
and the taxi cab's parking
a lot they can do for me
I begged you to stab me
you tore my shirt open
and I'm down on my knees tonight
Old Bushmill's I staggered, you buried the dagger in
your silhouette window light to go
waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing
Matilda with me
now I lost my Saint Christopher now that I've kissed her and the one-armed bandit knows, and the maverick Chinamen, and the cold-blooded signs
and the girls down by the strip-tease shows go
waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing Matilda with me
no, I don't want your sympathy, the fugitives say that the streets aren't for dreaming now
manslaughter dragnets and the ghosts that sell memories
they want a piece of the action anyhow go
waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing Matilda with me
and you can ask any sailor, and the keys from the jailor
and the old men in wheelchairs know
that Matilda's the defendant, she killed about a hundred
and she follows wherever you may go
waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltzing
Matilda with me
and it's a battered old suitcase to a hotel someplace
and a wound that will never heal
no prima donna, the perfume is on
an old shirt that is stained with blood and whiskey
and goodnight to the street sweepers
the night watchman flame keepers
and goodnight to Matilda too

What happened before Code Pink was Hit? Here it is.
How can any situation ever warrant the use of excessive force? I'm sorry but anyone who claims that wasn't excessive force is wrong. It does not take a high-speed baton to the chest cavity to arrest a 110lb unarmed woman who is standing peacefully.
Anything she did before could have only warranted an appropriate amount of force to be used. Period. She could have shot 10 cops right before this, and they still could not have used that much force to arrest her.
This should be pretty obvious--as the second time they confront her, with the intent to arrest her they easily drag her like a rag doll with one arm across the street. If it wasn't excessive force the first time, why didn't they slam her in the chest cavity again?
Aikido : Defense against a BaseBall Bat.
You have to find what is right for you. Maybe krav maga can be right for you, its an interesting system like aikido but more intense, the way it is meant to be.
But like all arts they have superstitions. You have to find the Martial part of the art, and forget about the art part. <-
By no means am I saying that Aikido is a good thing, I'm saying that I can do a good sankyo!

The final straw for me when I took Aikido was a move that was something like your opponent is on one knee and has one arm extended in front on him, and you slide your hand hard down the top of his arm to make him stand up and control him with chi or something. I asked the instructor to do it on me because it seemed to be placebo, and when he did it on me I wasn't willing to resist and embarrass him in front of his class.
I watched a friend's black belt test in Aikido. Looked like WWE, with him doing all this crazy stuff that has nothing to do with combat.

The Great Cheese Riot Arraignment (Blog Entry by schmawy)
It wasn't me!
It was the one-armed man.
I'm innocent I tells ya. I was just trying to make a quick microwave nacho snack. Somehow my cellphone was left inside, it morphed into a giant cheese hat... I don't know what happened next. I woke up with a hangover and a large cheese wedge affixed to my skull.
Ya gotta beleez mah!
I object to this whole line of questioning, your honor.

Is Ron Paul Actually So Far Behind? (Election Talk Post)
I see two basic roles of the government in a modern democratic capitalist society:
1. Create a regulatory and legal framework in which economic activity can happen.
2. Provide public goods like education and healthcare.
Paul's brand of libertarianism eliminates #2. If a majority of the electorate actually supports hacking off one arm of government, I can't see a bright future for the US.
