Dumpling Girl Freakout

grinter says...

The family used to be a windowless dungeon. People would treat you like shit, and there was no one to keep them in check, and no reference as to how people really should treat one another.
Now there's camera phones and youtube... and if your big sister is a lunatic and an ogre, the world will know.

youtube is like amnesty international for the family -- it's harder to be a dick when the world is watching.

The Daily Show: Interview with author of 'Misquoting Jesus'

ABTechie says...

I would be curious as to what Ehrman believes the proof is that Jesus was even real. I have been looking into the Historical Jesus which includes 2 Sunday school classes. The proof that he existed is weak.

Josephus, a historian, is the main proof given. Josephus made some references to Jesus in his work. However, Josephus could have never met Jesus because Josephus was born after the supposed death of Christ. I have seen no reference to a first-person meeting between Jesus and anybody.

The more I know about the Bible, the more I feel deceived.

Meh, I still think it's funny, but sure, there are ups and downs as always.

And ripping of your clothes and joining an all male swim show during a song number is pretty freaking gay. But oh well, I don't care either way.

In reply to this comment by campionidelmondo:
That's like saying that it is gay because they are singing and dancing. There's no reference to their sexuality and they're not making it obvious.

Simpsons ratings are dropping. The current writer staff are hacks. It's just not that funny anymore. I guess it could be due to the fact that the series has been on forever, but that would be a cheap excuse. I started watching as a kid when Season 3 was on, so I guess it might be more obvious to me. They had already lost their way in 2004. That is, the good writers left the show.

In reply to this comment by gwiz665:
I actually only started watching the Simpsons around 2004 and it is still funny.

And why the sudden PC feeling about the Gay channel? That ending was super gay and stewie is regularly shown as gay?

Hmmm, that reminds me of a story. See, there was this virgin...

Sirius doesn't "align" with orions belt. Sirius is not a planet and does not move (relative to earth) so it cannot align with anything on any particular day of the year. You also cannot see the Southern Cross constellation from the northern hemisphere.

The life of Jesus of Nazareth certainly needs to be examined critically but this is not a very good example of critical thinking. There are no references and the narrator/writer obviously has no Astronomical training and relies soley on Astrological mumbo jumbo bullshit and his active imagination.

I'm not going to downvote a video that creates so much discussion on the sift but I AM going to call BULLSHIT on this one.

"4th Amendment Trampled in DC - Illegal Police Checkpoint"

MarineGunrock says...

Downvote because NOTHING ILLEGAL HAPPENED HERE.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Nothing was searched or seized here, and no warrants were issued. The video starts off with text saying a woman was arrested for not paying a $75 fine on the spot, with NO references, and later the police say she was arrested for driving without a valid license. To that dumbshit white kid: The fourth amendment has NOTHING to do with being able to go where ever you want "without fear that the cops will mess with you"

Mitt Romney's speech: Faith in America

qruel says...

Romney's Pandering Speech
http://ffrf.org/news/2007/romneyspeech.php

Romney needs a fact-checker. He misleadingly stated that the nation's founders "sought the blessings of the Creator." There was indeed prayer at the First Continental Congress, which adopted the failed Articles of Confederation. Romney piously concluded his talk with a prayer attributed to Sam Adams from that event. But he failed to mention that there was no prayer at the constitutional convention that crafted our living and godless constitution.

After promising not to "confuse the particular teachings of my church with the obligations of the office and of the Constitution," Romney immediately vowed: "When I place my hand on the bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God." Art. II, Sec. 1 of the US Constitution, providing the presidential oath of office, contains no reference to a god or the bible. But, of course, Romney was signaling to fundamentalists that he would use their book, not the Book of Mormon.

As the difference between JFK's and Romney's speeches reveal, in recent years the notion of the separation between church and state has been debased, disrespected and routinely dissed. The deterioration since 1960 in respect for this pinnacle constitutional precept is mind-boggling.

Instead of affirming the constitution's prohibition of a religious test for public office, Romney's speech pandered to the notion that candidates must be publicly pious, and fed the myth that good citizenship requires religious faith.

Ron Paul Raises over a million dollars in 7 days. (Election Talk Post)

Constitutional_Patriot says...

Pros:
Fanatical devotion to "The Founders"
Advocates the Gold Standard
Cons:
I'm unsure on the Abortion thing, but I don't think he should mess with Roe v Wade however he suggests that it be an issue for the States to decide which isn't neccessarily a bad idea.

He wants to abolish the public education funding - I have mixed feelings about this as well, but Ron is citing some good reasons as to why he wants the schools to be able to be more independent. Federal budgets cause a waste of people's money but ultimately I think the schools need help and they are already bound to the hip to federal funding. I don't think this will pass through congress.

If Ron were working with the likes of Kucinich and Gravel I'll bet it would be an amazing replacement to the neocons.

Your right, there are no references to God in the constitution - Of course the 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of religion. Was he pandering to a religious group? If he stated that then I agree it's wrong. It would be a good question for him in a youtube debate.
I always heard him stating that some of the founding fathers had strong religious beliefs but that we are granted with freedom of religion via the 1st Amendment.

So you think he's a cheap demagogue like the others, however the others (Republican candidates) completely hate him for his beliefs. I think that he's not perfect, but he's nothing like the others.

Who do you think is the best candidate then? Who is our best hope, and why? If you think I'm making the wrong choice, I'd like to know what you think the best option would be.

Also, my "religious" beliefs are in-line with Thomas Jefferson as described in the link you posted. He was a genius.

Norsuelefantti says...

Oh, I didn't find that one because of the name and tags. (No reference to finnisch disco )

Still I think this is too good to miss even if it lacks total originality...
