Zero Punctuation: Fallout: New Vegas

Seems like he actually enjoyed this one... This game is pretty awesome. When you get to the town with the dino and a guy helps you find out who shot you and offers up a quest to get rid of some ghouls. TAKE THAT QUEST. One of the best quests in the Fallout series and seemed very underplayed in the dialog - "Oh you don't have to do this, since... but you could take this if you wanted." Seemed very passable. Only problem I've had in the 30 hours I've played so far are a couple of the vaults... I think it was Vault 11 and Vault 34. Both of them suck but one was extremely terribly laid out and buggy. Also, the vault in New Vegas is also too much of a pain in the arse to navigate... so terrible that I took a quest tried to find my way out for 20 minutes and then reloaded my last save... outside that vault and never went back in.

I had no qualms with Fallout 3, which surprised me having been a Fallout fanboy as a teenager... and not really wanting Bethesda to touch the franchise. I loved Fallout 3 but FONV seems to be a more proper Fallout game than 3. Lot's of writing & dialogue with better quality, the factions and return to Fallout's home - the beloved West

Have you ever had a Sierra mist? I need about a gallon water after one of those things. I think it's even caffeine free

Actually, while the sodium and caffeine in cola and similar beverages may have a (very, very) slight diurectic effect, you still retain more water from the beverage than the caffeine takes from your system. The same is true even of beer, though it's even more difficult to get people to believe that.

This.

Ages ago I just knew it had to be wrong when my Mom told me this. I was gleeful when I was able to show her proof I was right all along.

Bethesda is the company infamous for horribly buggy games.
I guess maybe Obsidian is too, but I've never heard anything like that about them.

Since the majority of the bugs are related to the game engine I suppose so. However if you've never heard of Obsidian in any form, you should know that majority at Obsidian = Black Isle. If you don't have any clue who Black Isle is you should try Wikipedia or something.

No, I know who Obsidian/Black Isle are... I'm just not aware of them having a reputation for half-assedness. The bugs in New Vegas are exactly the same kinda shit you find in Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind so I feel safe in assuming Bethesda is at work.

Watch this space for the inevitable Unofficial Fallout New Vegas Patch. Even as Bethesda releases official patches, there's a lot of things they just won't bother to fix. It's why I never buy Bethesda games at full price.

parody

Until you tell me what this is a parody of, I'm removing it from the channel. Moreover, even if this is intentional comedy (which I'm not sure about), that type of content does not necessarily belong in Parody.

No doubt; it's the same engine and I would imagine they would use some of the same art assets. However, the new information that came out today makes me a bit more optimistic that New Vegas will feel more like the originals. It's still a first-person shooter, obviously, but I'll take what I can get.

The setting, combat, quests, story, atmosphere, music, art, the places you visit... it all came together so nicely. Fallout 3 is one of those games where it's a pretty good game on its own, but many found it lacking as a sequel... it's a significant departure. I enjoyed it well enough, but didn't come close to the originals; they remain #4 and #5 on my all-time favorites list.

They can be bought at gog.com for $5.99 each, by the way.
