New *amazon invocation (Sift Talk Post)

Ornthoron says...

Brilliant feature! Not only can it help the Sift stay afloat, it can also be a useful tool when you find for instance good new music on the sift, something that happens to me frequently. I'm gonna go over and add amazon links to all my music vids, and I hope you will too.

Naked Girls Walking through Paris

mrk871 says...

Nice educational video.

Where babies can find the nearest exit, and where they can get their first meal.

A couple of points though:

1. Any babies capable of watching videos and reading are pretty much au fait with the ways of the world.

2. The French for baby is bébé, and I can't help but feel that by teaching them English from the word go, this is contributing to the gradual bastardisation of French. Also the other messages on the breasts are a little confusing.

In summary, I think it's a nice concept and a lot of effort has gone into it. Probably only a 3 out of 10 though unfortunately.
I think if the director were to go into making music videos he could do nicely.

I quite like imagining it as a music video though. It would probably score higher as a music vid. Anyone else see it like that?

Sift and Tell (Talks Talk Post)

From my pq this is the one i'm most in love with right now, like paul4dirt there are far too many music vids I adore to choose one, so I went for:

http://www.videosift.com/video/Ben-Kingsley-as-Don-Logan-for-Live-Aid

I love it because it's making some of the best use of a character i've ever seen to promote a worthy cause, and also because I think the film (Sexy Beast) is immense and underrated and it shows just how versatile an actor Kingsley is.

Hard choice, I have so many movie clips I love in my sifted but by my own wanky rules I can't do both in the cinema channel In the end I had to go for this:
http://www.videosift.com/video/If-I-Were-Gay-Mike-And-Tim-Spaced

It's easily one of the best television programmes ever made and I adore the relationship between Tim and Mike. Also i'm deeply in love with the work of Stephen Lynch and I think that this comedy song by him lends itself perfectly to these clips

sifted: http://www.videosift.com/video/assisted-suicide-of-motorneuronedisease-patient-Craig-Ewert one of the very very few non-music videos i sifted, a sad story but important to think about.

pqueue: http://www.videosift.com/video/Haile-Gebreselassie-s-2008-Berlin-Marathon-World-Record there are too many music vids in my pqueue to choose one. so ill go with this, haile gebreselassie winning the berlin marathon in (yet another!) world record. i ran a couple marathons myself and by doing that got even more respect for this man doing it in just over 2 hours. it's great to see him run, the commentators are japanese which also gives this vid a certain charm.

Myspace kills a LOT of videos for copyright infringement. I avoid them as much as possible, because I've lost a lot of videos from them. Trust me. And Dailymotion used to be safe, but in the past several months I've lost a number of them due to copyright claims too. It's getting hard, bro.

Thanks for the quality. The Daily Motion videos I've seen there tend to be a lot of dupes of the same video, which is probably part of the reason they get wiped. Myspace also has lots of movie clips and music vids.

Dailymotion also regularly purges copyrighted videos, so avoid them if you can.

Many music video replacements can be found at MTV Music, but the only downside to that is that they are blocked in Canada. Still, if you can't find a replacement anywhere else then you gotta do what you gotta do. Also Yahoo! Music videos are generally safe if they've been specifically uploaded by Yahoo! Music, and they aren't region-blocked either.
