Florida Man Brings Knife To Gunfight
Too bad neither bothered to bring a once of sense, self-control, or a gram of grey matter to the meeting.
Have too many tales to tell of seemly suicidal motorcyclists. Almost got one. Just missed. Happy that I did. Found no point in stopping to ask him to thank me.
Motorcyclist launched off an overpass
"A motorcyclist is seen traveling too fast while passing the truck"
doesn't look like speed was a factor, appears like nervousness in the new rider that made them panic and target fixate toward the guardrail.. if they had just relaxed and counter steered left they would have been fine. needs more training!

Near Miss
Or when you're on a motorcycle actually follow the rules of the damn road?
Yellow means stop if it's safe. He had tons of room to stop and decided to hit the gas instead. LOS doesn't matter, he was the one breaking the law, yellow light is the left turner's chance to turn.
Guy was being a prick and then complains about the other guy's driving.
There's a reason the majority of organ donations come from motorcyclists.
Also, missed this the first time round. He's in an urban area doing 60. So on top of running the light, he's speeding!
Other lessons possibly don't accelerate into an intersection with a yellow light when you don't have a clear line of sight?
Biker cut off but lands safely... ish
Just because you have the right of way does not mean you are safe.
If you pause at the 12-second mark you can see the biker is going 80mph. Is the speed limit 80mph? Leading up to the accident, he's passing other cars like they are standing still. Going much faster (or slower) than traffic around you always increases your risk.
He's traveling too quick for conditions, or even for his own reactions and brakes.
Reddit thread about him: https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/6cj4i8/motorcycle_got_cut_off_on_la_freeway/dhv4h38/
The accident is the fault of the car that pulled out, but this biker could have avoided the accident altogether if he had slowed down to comparable speeds of the traffic around him.
But what would he do that for? He's a youtube asshole who took down other videos of him being an asshole who now has one of his vids go viral to the point that he makes money off it. Insurance will cover the repairs to his bike.
Look at how he drives: https://streamable.com/jewxu
He's a cocky asshole who instigates problems on the road.
So yeah, the car that pulled in front is technically at fault. That doesn't make this guy some kind of angel. It's possible he consciously allowed himself to hit the car....

Technically!?!
The bike was in the carpool lane, where travelling faster than other traffic is expected, that's why the lane exists. He was not going inordinately fast, traffic in the fast lane was going pretty slow.
The car crossed two lanes and a double yellow line without looking or matching traffic speed in the lane(s) it was entering. Any one of those mistakes is enough to make this technically the car's fault, all 3 together leaves no question and removes the technicality completely.
100% the car's fault. Not even 1% the bike's fault. He did absolutely nothing wrong.
Nothing to lose by trying

Cops Don't Like to Be Honked At in Colorado
Indeed, local news coverage:
http://kdvr.com/2016/06/09/motorcyclist-records-road-rage-exchange-with-denver-officer/
The rider didn't complain so the incident isn't being investigated.
Do you know if this got picked up by local news. I looked but didn't see a news station carrying it on the interwebs. Even if they wanted to probably hard to edit without having the PoPo criticize them.
Cops Don't Like to Be Honked At in Colorado
Compare that to Germany. Now go make America great again. Sorry to invoke Trump on this one, but my expert US advisor tells me it is her biggest worry about Trump, that his success will make more people feel like its OK to behave like an asshole.
Also the call obviously must have been something really important and time-critical.
Why You Should Always Watch and Listen for Ambulances
Neither really applies here. The motorcyclist simply couldn't have heard / seen the ambulance in time. When you have a full face helmet on, your sound intake is muted. Not silent, but with the ears being covered and wind around you.. it's basically like being deaf to anything not in your immediate vicinity.
This is the EXACT reason that almost all emergency vehicles (at least locally) even with lights and siren blaring will slow right down at an intersection to make sure they aren't going to get clobbered.
There's being right and then there is being dead right.

Oregon Cop Kicks Biker in Chest
I especially liked the repeating "clearly did not violate established procedures or tactics" part, but no indication that they understand that all that means is the established procedures and/or tactics need to be changed so they know they can't kick people who have surrendered and complied. It sounds a lot like they didn't learn anything and will be paying out more, and larger settlements in the future until the amount is large enough to wake them up.
I also liked the "Edwards acknowledged in his testimony that Wilkens had begun to comply with his commands when he landed the kick, but said he was unable to stop the kick because he “already had the muscles fired” in his right leg." part, like he still doesn't know there's video of him taking 2 steps forward then kicking all while the motorcyclist is going down to his knees. Just so much fail.
EDIT: Oh, I missed the brake fade part. I notice the hood dip, then rebound as he hits, then quickly lets off the brake, accelerates slightly, and turns right into the bike to ram it. Brake fade might let him roll forward slowly, it would not let the front of the car raise up like the brakes were released and accelerator hit, and would not turn the wheel in the direction of the biker. That wasn't brake fade, no way, it was an intentional ramming. I'm a bit surprised that wasn't brought up in court.
Wilkens was awarded more than $180,000 in total damages.
Jurors additionally determined that Edwards acted with negligence when his police car rear-ended Wilkens’ motorcycle, but ruled that the veteran state trooper did not violate Wilkens’ rights by pointing a gun at him and using force to handcuff and then pull Wilkens to his feet.
Wilkens suffered a broken left clavicle, a fractured rib and other injuries in the Aug. 3, 2012, incident.

Some other nice bits in the article, the officer was driving an unmarked chevy camaro, was unaware that it was equipped with a dash cam, and blamed the rear ending of the bike on 'brake fade' (which a brake expert testified was rare in modern brake systems).
It's a fun read, also the cop was later promoted to captain.
