Cdr. Hadfield Last Transmission From The Int'l Space Station

Square foot maybe costly but it's not attached to any surface.

As for the cubic space it is taking up in mid air, well there appears to be room for plenty of stuff to float around and the majority of it is not being used. If that cubic space were so valuable I doubt they would let it go to waste.

Yes, but each square foot on the shuttle(s) and the ISS is probably quite costly.

Unsheathed katana - this is how you do it!

artician says...

It's much harder than you might imagine. Basically you have to keep the flat of the blade perfectly in line with your swing. If you tilt the blade even the slightest bit you end up pushing the object, rather than cutting it, as you can see in the "fail" video.
Those people in the fail vid aren't amateurs either, and those swords are ridiculously sharp, but you have to be so extremely precise if you want a clean cut. It gets even more difficult, would probably be impossible for untrained people like us, once you start changing direction in mid swing and trying to make multiple cuts on the same object, let alone while it's in mid-air.

Am I missing something? It really doesn't seem that difficult. Swing a few times and slice an object in random places.

“Glimpse of True Nature & High Potential of Chi Power"

This is complete bullshit - a kung-fu version of people fainting and being cured at the alter of a super-church. Until we see someone launching a flying kick and then just stopping mid air like they hit a wall, then fuck right off. Nothing here is not reproducable by the likes of Derren Brown.

Acoustic levitation

Basic points paraphrased from the article:

There are two speakers facing each other which are both producing the same tone. They are adjusted so that the waves interfere perfectly with each other, creating what's called a "standing wave". At the places where both waves have zero volume, called "nodes", the pressure coming up from the one wave and pressure coming down from the other is exactly equal, and they are strong enough to counteract gravity, so very light things can be suspended in mid air.

In this video, the guy adjusts the wave-o-metre thingie up and down, and it moves the nodes up and down, and the droplets move up and down as well.

Yeah, I'm surrounded by colleagues who get all squishy over the latest gizmo. I always tell them "I don't care if you can point your phone at somebody and have it scan their features and somehow call up their birth certificate online and project it as a hologram in mid-air, complete with the 3D embossed county seal. I'd still say big fucking deal, show me something useful".

While I believe this to be real (and seriously; best wishes to this person).. I don't get 1:29.. does he just happen to have the same name, or is it a very dark showing of a sense of humor, or..?
Edit-Ok, I guess part of me quietly (and sincerely) wishes this was some sort of ARG like viral thing.. but I guess I just have to assume he has the same initals and last name.

I'm guessing it's a joke.

Why didn't his secondary work?
If they performed rescue breathing better, would he have not passed out?

his secondary is the blue thing caught up with the other guys chute. im guessing when the other guy cut loose it stayed wrapped up on him (lines around legs or body), so when he cut away, he was still caught. his secondary deployed into the mess.

he did loose consciousness at end of video.

Human Slingshot Slip and Slide

Something's weird with that video. There was a few shots of people going down the slide and it always cut before they hit the ramp? There was a guy with a helmet cam and yet no mid air footage?

I smell a rat.
