That's exactly how the firing rate of every automatic gun is stated. See Metal Storm for example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8hlj4EbdsE). The video finishes of with a 1 000 000 rounds per minute demonstration, even though it only shoots 180 rounds.

ya the one i got is an older vid. Sorted through the ones here on the sift and its not a dupe. It just shows the cycles of rates of fire and at the end shows the decimation, in various frame rates just to be more awesome, of a small structure at the hands of this beast

but damnit i just cant get my music vids to sift........you non music appreciating jaggofs!

It's impossible to gauge the effectiveness of the Metal Storm platform until actual weapons begin to be deployed.

For me the question is always on the range factor, recoil management and time to reload. 3 questions MS has kept pretty quiet on, but it has done a marvelous job of garnering popular support due to the 1 million rounds per second claim, which is in actual combat nothing but theatrics. I won't deny however that the platform does offer immense firepower to weight ratio.

Combined with a sensor grid I think the technology has great potential to becoming a area denial system. Troops instead of laying minefields would set up a MS system, to fire on targets via IFF.
