1/3 scale V12 liquid cooled model - perfect for P51 Mustang

oritteropo says...

It's only the prototype, they're looking to make the next version lighter, higher revving, more powerful.

The spitfire used a 2 speed blower that the pilot switched in flight, but the equivalent Messerschmitt had a more sophisticated variable one (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimler-Benz_DB_605 for details).

I don't know what the Mustang had, but I'd assume they've copied it here.

It's already supercharged according to the english version of the page.>> ^TheFreak:
Needs a turbo.

Um...needs a two stage supercharger then.
From the bore and stroke I'm not sure how they get away with calling this 1/3 scale. More like 1/5. Even then, the displacement is a fraction of the type of 12 cylinder engine they're replicating because of that whole πr^2 thing.
Nitpicking. I suppose the point is that it's cool.
Still not 1/3 scale.

American Ace Takes on Half the Luftwaffe

radx says...

If you're near London, I suggest you hit the Imperial War Museum. They used to have the rudder of a Bf 110 on display the last time I was there (maybe 2004), don't know if they still do. It's not just any Bf 110 though, it's the plane of Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer with all the kills marked on it: 164 night sorties, at least 114 four-engined bombers destroyed (Halifax, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster). On 02/21/45, between 20:44 and 21:03, he shot down 7 Lancasters.

Just to illustrate that at night, even the cumbersome Bf 110, He 219 and Ju 88 could slice through bomber squads like cheese. It's a good thing that neither Messerschmitt nor Focke-Wulff nor Henschel could build a proper two-engined fighter like the Mossie or P38 or else the losses would have been even more horrible than they were already.

Historical amnesia and Gaza

bcglorf says...

I don't think it's about the dollar amount, it's about there being no other country that would sell them jets etc.
...
I don't think even Russia would sell them MIGs. Soooo.... they really couldn't invade Gaza without US support.

Bullshit. Israel's first purchase of jet fighters where a Messerschmitt variation from Czechoslovakia. Saddam had no troubles buying any and every piece of hardware he wanted from tanks and jets from the Soviets all the way up to VX gas and a nuclear reactor from the French. Rwanda's RGF had a study supply of every form of military hardware they could use while they were busily executing the worst genocide seen for generations. Even the video itself declares that 1/4 of the American aid is spent on ISRAELI made weapons!

Arms dealers are loyal to money and nothing else. You don't seem to have a clue what your talking about on this.
