Stanley Kubrick talks about 2001: A Space Odyssey's ending.
Mind blown. But, cynically, what if Kubrick told a different version of the ending to a different person (that he even bothered to tell to)'s inquiry? I enjoy endings that leave room enough for some open-ended posibilities if expertly crafted.

Jack Nicholson preppin' for The Shining
Kubrick was a genius but he was an absolute arsehole to poor Shelley Duvall.
He tormented her mercilessly on set, telling the rest of the cast and crew not to sympathise with her, all to get her feeling genuine fear and despair.
There's even a rumour that when she's screaming "please Jack" in this scene, she's not in character, she just wants Nicholson to stop.
What a great SteadiCam--oh, wait...
Thank you!
You know, now that you jog my memory, I remember the Kubrick story...
Wow.
the "brain" itself will be ~$30K min. you need lenses, batteries/power supplies, drives to record to, viewfinders, cables, etc. on top of that. a steadicam rig will cost $50K+ too. the famous zeiss lens kubrick used (borrowed from NASA) cost over $23M (adjusted for inflation).
professional cameras are expensive. alexa and red are super cheap in comparison to traditional film camera set ups.

Wow. If you have a minute; what gets a camera up to that cost? the sensors? the glass?
When WTF Visits Kubrick's ‘The Shining’.
Very impressive editing skills....Kubrick would be proud.
The Red Drum Getaway
It starts in Rear Window land and then goes into mostly Kubrick films (maybe all Kubrick... although I may have seen one or two Vertigo shots). Is there some larger connection I'm missing? Or just for the hell of it...
The Best Movie Sets Ever Made
I also expected to see The Belafonte. Too bad. My personal favorite Anderson film.
It also had that Portuguese musician Seu Jorge playing acoustic David Bowie covers throughout the film.
Or how about the Shining? Kubrick's insane penchant for kicking people off set and moving objects on the set, like paintings and couches, to slightly different locations in order to create an uncanny feeling throughout the movie. He didn't tell his actors either. He was just a weirdo. Worth a shout out for that.
No mention of Wes Anderson's awesome sets? Life Aquatic anyone?

One of the better battles - and Kubrick won - hands down.
