"How to Dance to Dubstep- Python Edition " Prodigy Remix

"The Valour and the Horror", pt.2: Bomber Command

calvados says...

I found exactly one hit for a lyric snippet from the first song the boys are singing in the mess, sung to the tune of "Lili Marleen" (http://videosift.com/video/Hanna-Schygulla-Lili-Marleen). I suppose it's dubbed "The Lancs of 75 [Squadron]".

The Lancs of Mepal, they're on their way,
Off to bomb the Jerries, they bomb them every day,
And when they wish to show their might,
They bomb the sods by day and night,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

Off we go from Briefing and leap into our kite,
Open up the throttles and roar into the night,
We've left the flarepath far behind,
It's bloody dark but we don't mind,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

There's the bloody searchlights waving round the sky,
Not much ruddy power and not too bloody high,
I hope they don't start shooting til we're through,
They might get me and they might get you,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

Now we're through the target setting course for home,
Soon we'll see the Sandra's waving o'er the 'drome,
That's if we don't go off the track,
And stop a crafty burst of flak,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the lancs of 75.

Junkers off to starboard, Focke-Wulf off to port,
Gunner calls to Skipper, the range is getting short,
Prepare to corkscrew starboard, go,
We know our stuff and we're not slow,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

Now we're in the circuit with a turn to land,
No intruders round us, ain't it bloody grand,
We fooled the Hun once more tonight,
Dropped a load right on the Reich,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

When the war is over and there's no more ops to do,
We'll think of all our pals,
The ones who did not get through,
The pals who were with us through thick and thin,
That we one day the War would win,
The Lancasters of Mepal, the Lancs of 75.

BBC Panorama - Secrets of Scientology

I've never understood the appeal of churches, not when there's so much other stuff to be doing.
Here's some; sex, music, art, adrenaline, kites, beaches, family, and a whole host of other things.

Most churches offer all of those things (except sex, maybe) as a ready-to-go package. Think about it. If you join a church, you'll automatically and immediately get a large family to support and help you. Most of the world's greatest art pieces were inspired by or specifically about religious concepts. Many of the great classical composers wrote music for churches, although modern christian music is simply atrocious. Many churches like spending days out as "youth groups" or whatever. they go to beaches, fly kites, go to roller coaster parks, and some even do skydiving, as well as a host of other things...

I'm an atheist but there IS a reason that churches have such powerful draw on people.

How Corporations Destroyed American Democracy - Chris Hedges

That's the sort of mentality that allows these things to continue. If you want to live with your hair on fire that's fine, but don't tell people trying to help you to "shut the fuck up". You're free to quietly bury your head in the sand while we try to work our way out of this mess.

Once you get to a certain point in life I think you'll find that the "Debbie Downer" folks are those with your attitude. I live my life for my kids at this point in time,(and indirectly all of society) and realizing that I'm more interested in trying to positively shape the world they live in rather than living for myself. I'm perfectly happy surrounded by self-aware, intelligent people, which I'm pleased to find nearly everywhere I turn now that I know where to look.

Honestly I think you encompass your insecurity with the one line: "yes we're probably the shallowest society to ever exist, friggin get over it." Perhaps you could personally aspire to not be so shallow instead of fighting against others to make yourself comfortable with it?

Great sift!

Wow, I bet this guy is the freaking life of the party no matter where he goes. You wanna talk about a "Debbie Downer" this dude has got that role down to perfection. I've listened to this for a total of about 12 minutes so far and I'm already trying to think of the quickest way to off myself before I have to listen to any more of this depressing dribble.
Yes we're materialistic, yes Michael Jackson was a freak and we made him that way, yes we're probably the shallowest society to ever exist, friggin get over it. Go fly a kite or watch a spider spin it's web or smell a flower or something but for God's sake shut the fuck up.

Let's raise kids to be entrepreneurs - TED Talk

GeeSussFreeK says...

>> ^Skeeve:

Does anyone else find it really sad that he has his 7 and 9 year old kids worrying about money already? Shouldn't our kids have the fantasy that anything is possible without having to worry that they might not have enough money one day? Yes entrepreneurs are often villianized; all they think about is money and there are surely more important things in life.

Worrying? How about teaching. Why we try to keep kids in a box is beyond me. I heard a great analogy about raising kids comparing them to kites. Give them all the room you can, when they start to crash, that is when you step in. Learning the most skills you can at the youngest possible age is what some kids want to do anyway, foster that!

I'm just curious here, but is there some place that I can go to get a legitimate conservative opinion? Is there a website out there where intelligent conservatives actually have valid points and constructive criticism on todays issues? I am honestly openly looking for that, but I don't think I've ever seen an intelligent conservative comment from anyone, anywhere (that I can remember). Surely this isn't all there is. Where do you go for your facts that have turned you so against this administration? I'm hoping that there is just some secret shining beacon of intelligent conservatism out there that puts everything into perspective and I just don't know about it yet. And please don't say it's Fox News.

I guess i'm actually assuming that your conservative based on the tone of the quote below. I suppose you could be libertarian or even an Anarchist for all I know, but the question still applies.

I read this article and am partially through the replies. I think that there are some people in this country on both sides of the debate that are actually thinking this through.

I don't know if that answers your question, but at least it isn't FOX news.

Peace.

Obama to Republicans: You Can't Drive!

Obama is, at most, a right-centrist.

And he's not whining about The Job. He's whining about puerile lying frauds who fucked up The Job and have behaved like kids since they lost it.

Now I am from Canada so I dont really understand most of your mentatlity. But from my persepcitive, above you (geographically), it seems like republican reduction of restictions and regulations on various industries as well as commiting to two wars seems to have put your country into somthing of a hole. Then when people try to restore things to a state where they worked one side(the right, ironically in my opinion the wrong) fights tooth and nail to pass the buck. Now it may be some super long term strategy to mess things up so badly that when a dem comes to power you can shift all the blame onto them focusing everything negative onto them then when the term is up the right wing can blame the lousy past 4 years under dem rule as the fault of the democrats and take back power with a surge of public support.

Your country has a lot of problems and fighting people who are trying to stablize them doesnt help.

I Love You, Man - Paul Rudd & Jason Segel Interview

NaMeCaF says...

Classic! Paul Rudd's freeballing is hilarious, whether its with Jason Segal here and in I Love You Man or with Seth Rogan in Knocked Up or just about anything else he's in.

And Jason Segal is definitely high as a kite.

This heroin doesn't seem to get me off. Then why did you shoot up?
Why do you use a fork to eat your gelatin? It glows better that way.
Why do you scratch your dog's back instead of his ears? Because he's hungry for Kittenchow.

Why respond to a statement eliciting simple, human interaction with a smart-ass question?

In reply to this comment by xxovercastxx:
Then why'd you vote for it?
