Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2
I was a massive SW fan. I was one of the last people to admit that the prequels were terrible. I kept lying to myself that they were good.
Also, I am on record as hating JJ Abhrams... especially the 2 new Star Treks. So I wasn't happy at all when he got this gig.
So I kinda want to hate this. I've been disappointed before, and I want to get my scorn in early.
But I just can't.
THAT TRAILER IS GODDAMN AWESOME.
And when Han and Chewie appeared, I nearly shed a tear. I really hope the movie is *quality.

Dinner for Five with Kevin Smith (part 2) 9:17
You can skip at 3:20 for the Star Wars bit. It's amazing that JJ Abrams is sitting at this same table with Mark Hamill, both not knowing they would be working on a sequel in a few years. I was also surprised to learn about JJ's experience as a writer on various other films

Honest Trailers - Divergent
I saw this in theater with the wife. It was actually a decent film. One of the better sci-fi films I've seen in some time. (Even if it lacks a gross abundance of Michael Bay explosions, or JJ Abrams lens flare.) The characters, and their actions, were reasonably believable given the situation they were facing.
Apparently, in the book the lady lead is 15 or 16 when she meets mister lead, who is 17 or 18, so there's only a couple years between them. There looks to be a much greater difference in age in the film. My wife said that the books do a really good job explaining everything. She read the trilogy shortly after we saw the movie.
Biggest Star Wars Fan...Stewart or Colbert?
Bonus: if you win, you can slap JJ Abrams.
Seriously, someone needs to slap that dude. I have entered just so I can potentially slap him.
Transformers StopMotion Attack On Giant
I saw the first one when it came out, more out of curiosity than anything else. I was a big transformers fan as a kid, but I wasn't expecting much from Bay. Even my low expectations weren't met.
Tonight, by coincidence, Dark of the Moon was on TV. "Maybe I'm being too hard" I thought. I mean, they're only glorified toy commercials anyway, right? Maybe I'm guilty of just jumping on the Bay-hate band wagon...
Nope.
Aside from being a completely un-fucking-watchable mess, it was just boring. How the hell do you spend that much money (and the money clearly didn't go on writers or actors), have that many explosions and still have it be boring?
I didn't like JJ Abrams new Star Trek movies, but at lest he was in trying (in his own half-assed, ham-fisted way) to pay homage to the property. Bay clearly hates this whole concept. He hates the characters, the design, the plot lines, he's not even really interested in the central concept of robots that bloody transform. And to top it all off, you couldn't even let kids watch this. Instead of the noble, if naïve leader of the 80s, Optimus is just a dick here. And a psychopathic one too. He flat out murders his defeated enemy at the end.
FFS, if it's a terrible movie and you can't use it to sell toys to kids..what is the goddamn point of its existence?
It beats all of Michael Bay's movies too!
