Dick Cheney's Prostitute "Commits Suicide".

Trancecoach says...

1. 90% of women that kill themselves do NOT hang themselves (as Palfrey and one of her madam's had done), rather they usually take pills.

2. Palfrey had stated, several times, that she was not intending on killing herself, but intended to expose the government (in an election year, no less).

3. Palfrey was paid up in her high-rise apartment for 6 months, suggesting she was intending to return to her apartment after she served time.

It's all a little too 'pat' to appear like a suicide. Radio talk show provocateur, Alex Jones, was on Geraldo this week to discuss the "stinkiness" of this story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt6O0ruFmfE

Was the DC Madam murdered?

When Honesty is Treason

Yeah, karaidl, you seem to be easily amused. Just a reminder: while you laugh, people die.

Care to post your source, QM?

Here's a few of mine:

By March 2004, only 48 percent of the American public supported the war, compared to 72 percent around the time of the invasion. The support numbers continued to drop, to 47 percent in 2005, 40 percent last year and, now, 32 percent. March 19, 2007

A new low of 30 percent of Americans say they support the U.S. war in Iraq and, for the first time, most Americans say they don't believe it is morally justified.... June 27, 2007

As President Bush and Congress hammer out an Iraq war funding bill, a CBS News/New York Times poll shows the number of Americans who say the war is going badly has reached a new high, rising 10 percent this month to 76 percent. May 24, 2007

Clearly, somebody's head remains firmly up his fat ass.

Improbable Collapse: The Demolition of Our Republic.

Par says...

Again, the cores were simply never designed to stand completely independently of the rest of the building. Roughly analogously, a drain-pipe bolted to the side of a very tall building maybe perfectly secure and could even provide enough stability for someone to climb; however, that same drain-pipe left free-standing in an open area would collapse of its own accord.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you mention something "dissolving in mid-air". Can you clarify that for me?

From an epistemological and a platonic perspective, to be able to rationally reach the conclusion that the collapse of World Trade Center 7 looked considerably suspicious, one would have to be reasonably familiar with what this kind of skyscraper collapsing due to a combination of severe structural damage and widespread fires should look like. Unfortunately however, there exist no comparable examples for us to evaluate. Prior to 9/11, the only time the vast majority of us will have seen a high-rise building collapse is due to a controlled demolition, so it's perfectly natural to draw such a cognitive association.

Well, firstly, the first half of your reply doesn't seem to make sense. You say that only "three high-rise buildings in history have ever collapsed due to a fire," but also state that the "list includes five famous ones." If there have only ever been three such examples, how can the list of those examples include (at least) five?

Secondly, and more importantly, the World Trade Center buildings collapsed due to a combination of the damage suffered from the high-speed impact of a commercial airliner and the ensuing, unfought, multiple-floor, jet-fuel-accelerated fires (in the cases of buildings 1 and 2) or due to a combination of the damage suffered from the impact of a collapsing 110-storey skyscraper and eight hours of widespread, unfought fires (in the case of building 7). They were indeed the first buildings in history to collapse as a result of these factors, but, then again, they were the first buildings in history to have been subjected to these factors.

Only three high rise buildings in history have ever collapsed due to a fire, and the list includes five famous ones, all having had more floors affected and that burned for longer--
those 3, were WTC 1 WTC 2, and WTC 7(if you have doubts about the big towers, you should have no trouble seeing, that WTC 7 is obviously a take-down...)

Cats on a balcony

lisacat says...

They fall off frequently enough that the condition, if they're lucky enough to survive, is called "high-rise syndrome." On the cat's medical record it would read "HRS" and they would typically arrive at the vet's emergency room with front legs broken from being jammed into the ground, broken jaws and facial bones, and air in the chest cavity, for starters. Cats who fall from higher floors have a better survival rate because they have time to "right" themselves and make a less injurious landing.

9/11 Mysteries-Fine Art of Structural Demolitions

theo47 says...

You make my point for me -- human beings are fragile things, their memories are unreliable, and their brains often work in mysterious ways to make the intolerable tolerable.

I was horrified watching it, myself - and I was in a high rise 23 stories up in the tallest building in town. People were leaving the building in the actual fear that it was happening everywhere. I'm not pretending my experience was worse than yours - but I certainly would never use emotional distress as an argument for an absurd thesis.

..the award for most realistic gunplay in a motion picture??

NordlichReiter says...

Well, this is great.

The thing about this whole situation is that every police station should have a sniper on call ready to go at any time. with all the high rise buildings in the area the sniper just has to set up on a first floor, or just get in a good place to shoot. Like Paccino did at the end of that fight, the thing is most people arent trained to shoot anything other than the issued sidearm.

I am going to rent this movie in a bit!
