Wow.. you "anti-sims" guys really have smug anti-social problems with people who like the sims. Hey, I play the game too, but damn, just because I don't like certain games doesn't mean "I stand quite apart" as Raaagh so eloquently put it.

Hey, guess what, since that's not you it obviously hasn't crossed your mind others might have legitimate reasons for liking this game. Christ, if you don't like it great, and the review was funny... and strikingly true from a 35 year old game reviewers point of view...

problem is, people, there are still KIDS who play games... and there are still games for kids.

Game reviewers such as yahtzee are designed to BE opinionated and flavoured with his preferences. Him delivering an unbiased factual review stripped of opinions and jokes - talking very quickly - would be absolutely pointless.

Call me mr. silly but isn't that the easiest thing to spot in the world?

Video game reviewers like movie critics have their own preferences that seep into their own reviews.

I think them being biased is totally a given. I mean everyone loved Elephant when it came out or History of Violence when I thought both films was arty farty bullshit.

He's never claimed to be a source of any information as to whether or not you should actually buy a game. You don't watch these videos to find that out, you watch them to be entertained.

If you are no longer entertained by them, all well and good... but I am, I still watch them.

Yahtzee is one of the worst and funniest game reviewers out there, but his humor is wearing thin. It's a bad sign when your mind begins to wander, indicating there's no substance other than his unique usage of genital related humor. He doesn't enjoy most video games -- even the good ones (usually because of something he doesn't understand and automatically labels a problem), so why should I bother listening to his seemingly endless bouts of whining about game mechanics he hasn't familiarized himself with. It's one thing to recognize the faults in a game, even a kick ass one (that's how you improve future games) but it's another to base your opinion of a game solely by its faults. I don't care if he's just being a contrary for the sake of being a contrary, he's an untrustworthy source. If you haven't played the game, I would go as far to say, don't bother watching his reviews; they're too misleading and not really that funny any more.

Link to the full Something Awful review. You'd do well to read it (or the Wikipedia entry) before googling for other videos - if only to just be prepared.
