Man gets jail time for sitting down too slow in court

Hive13 says...

This guy acted like a total douchebag, failed horribly at representing himself, mocked a judge in court and refused to sit stating it was under duress. He thought he was going to go into court and act like a total badass and it backfired horribly.

All this over a dirty, fucking couch he left in his front yard.

Lost Cop Shoots Puppy On Private Property In Oklahoma

Nice baseless assumption, qm. Begging the question is the technical word for this particular fallacy.
dft, I stand by my words. As always. They are based on observance of the hysterical tone of the bulk of these responses as well as past observations of sifters' knee-jerk hateful reactions to lawful authority, reactions programmed by government school (and kollij) indoctrination. The moral-relativist "Establishment" has done its evil work.
The "private property" excuse is a lame one and not applicable. It appears to be the front yard area, visible from the road. Any criminal activity in plain sight in the front yard requires no warrant, nor does an officer being threatened with harm.
Had the cop shot a sleeping dog or sitting dog, I'd also like to see him strung up by his balls.
But that's not what happened here.

It does apply. Because these laws prohibit any one who is unwelcome from being on the property. They have to have written and expressed consent from the owner of the property. The officer did not have a need to be on the property, and being lost does not constitute as a need, because they have radios in their cars. It appears to be the front yard area, so that means its Ok for a cop to go on the property? If there were crime on the property then her surveillance would have caught the criminals comming on to the property, which they did in this case it was the police.

Just because the law is lame does not mean that it is not applicable in this case. It is applicable and that would be how I would advocate for the owner.

Finally if you read most of my comments you will find that I state that this case hinges on what she had posted on her borders, and on the property.

Now don’t get me wrong. This vortex fountain known as ‘Charybdis’ which is located in Seaham Hall, Sunderland (UK) definitely catches the eye, but it’s oddly reminiscent of a giant see-through toilet that’s just been flushed. (Not that I’ve encountered a giant see-through toilet before mind you.) Designed by William Pye, the Charybdis fountain is his largest vortex water sculpture to date, and it was created using a large acrylic polymer cylinder which allows an air-core vortex to form as water is pumped in a circular motion. Not surprisingly the fountain also relies on a heavy-duty water filtration system which is necessary to keep the vortex clean and spinning properly.

I like the simplicity of "No government has the right to outlaw an activity unless it harms a person without his informed consent." In a relationship of 2 people, that works fine. When you add the third person into the mix, the question becomes "Do I outlaw or punish an activity by Citizen A, that might cause Citizen B to murder Citizen C, without his consent."

That's where the government interference gets to be a problem. In Eric's example, people are being told they can't express their non-violent philosophy. (Limiting freedom of speech.)
However, I do hope I can call the cops to intervene if someone is in my front yard exhorting a crowd to kill me because of something I have said. (I'd better check to see if they're already there.)

It's a tough call, but I think most of us would rather have some personal responsibility in the equation. Just because someone exhorts you to kill another doesn't mean you have to do it. In this world of imperfects, it increases the chances they will, (as evidenced by every suicide bomber that detonates), and therein is the compromise, practical versus ideal.

For what it's worth, I'm not defending this guy's actions. I am curious if anyone's gotten a response from the neighbor whose front yard turned into a crime scene.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again sometime: unpleasant things happen in a society with sufficient freedoms, because there will always be people who cannot behave themselves when given sufficient freedom. However, just because there are a minority population of morons who decide to use guns, alcohol, vehicles, and other freedoms inappropriately does not mean we should all be penalized for their lack of sense, or even their malicious intent. Things like Columbine, 9/11, Oklahoma City - these things happen in a free society. They are more than simply unfortunate, and there are things we can do within our current bounds to minimize their chance of occurring, but they will happen and we should not allow ourselves to act irrationally in response.

It is also legal to install blades under your car that when triggered cut off the offenders legs. While you are at it get some child safe landmines to install in the front yard of your house. Yup, they do that too...

That guy claims to have been a hunter all his life, yet he was surprised the meat was bad after hanging in the front yard for days? If he had planned to eat him, he would have taken care to clean and refrigerate him wouldn't he?

Minor detained for publicy displaying a %$*& Bush sign

joedirt says...

I'm actually amazed here.. the cops showed amazing restraint. You cannot follow them in a crowd like that and get that close. They could have arrested that lady for interfering.

Anyways, I love how the cops threw out twice two made up laws. You can't videotape with audio in FL. (Yeah you probably can't audiotape a phonecall.. but they have small brains) There are local decency laws.. So maybe displaying signed with vulger words might violate those local laws. Just like I probably cannot put drawings of a penis in my front yard.

Usually, they would have just warned the dude and said get rid of that sign. Just like if your party is being too loud. I think the mom and the videocamera pissed them off.
