Probably should have tested that first
I think I have to call fake.
Look at the top of the ladder, there's a 2x4 triangle set up to flip the glass off the platform as it raises.
Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader Is the Lamest Fight Ever
Also is there anyone who actually thinks the "climatic" lightsabre fight between Anakin and Obi-wan in ep3, was BETTER than this?
Elaborate moves and flips do not make a good fight.
Just your everyday traffic in Russia
What... the... flip?!!

Counter Protest Attacked In Charlottesville, Va
"The 'no penis' thing....yeah, that's kinda nuts"
giggle
"I also see that the right has moved so far right that what one might consider 'centrist' today would be extremist right 25 years ago"
Which reminds me that in the entire conversation I've been pretty much writing off the Reps and the right. I'd really like to see them do all the same things just flipping left for right and all.
I would argue that the right hasn't gone so much further from the 'center' than the left has. Of course, the 'center' is always subjective, but my barometer is basically the only mantra from the libertarians I can agree on, your rights end were mine begin. Maximizing that mantra as much as the practicalities of real world allow is what I would consider an ideally centrist goal line.
Oh....that's....really? And here I thought Canadians were reasonable people.
The 'no penis' thing....yeah, that's kinda nuts, but couldn't they get around it by becoming a private club with membership dues rather than spa fees? At least here, private clubs make their own rules the members agree to when they join.....so far.
Public businesses that use public services to operate and serve the public, they have different obligations to society, imo.
I absolutely agree, the dems need to get their head out of their ass, denounce the extremists in their midst, understand that Clinton was a HUGE mistake, and move back to the center some, but I also see that the right has moved so far right that what one might consider 'centrist' today would be extremist right 25 years ago, so they need to be careful to not move past center and go right, or they'll lose for being republican light.
Very cool cat high fives and fist bumps a man
True friends. Mine just flips me the bird.
RANT: 20 Things Your IT Guys Want You to Know
I thought he did a pretty poor explanation of the difference between RAM and a hard drive, especially for a target audience that thinks a computer is a hard drive.
And on the flip side, don't tell me to restart my computer.

Straight is the new gay - Steve Hughes
I live in NZ. There's very much a "she'll be right" attitude to H&S here. And in some ways, it's great. It's easier to set up sports clubs, if you want to go in the wilderness, you're pretty much on your own, etc.
But the flip side is the fact that we have a terrible rate of injuries and actual deaths in industry, especially in agriculture and forestry.
And quite honestly, I think this "H&S gone mad" attitude is actually promoted by companies who don't want to pay to keep their employees safe. And that's not hyperbole, there is literally an ongoing investigation into a company that skimped on safety resulting in the deaths of 29 miners.
I agree it can be taken too far, and maybe the UK really is insane, but in my experience, it's one of those things that people whine about when they don't understand the reasons behind it.
PC, we'll agree to disagree.
Smoking: again smoke if you want to, but just not around me. Why should I have to put up with smoke when I'm having a meal? More importantly, why should the staff who have to work there, have to put up with a toxic environment?
As for the competition argument, it doesn't really hold water. A few pubs in Ireland preempted the smoking ban, and they went out of business, because there's almost always one person in a group that smokes. Having it as a law makes a level playing field.
I've been in three countries now when smoking was banned in pubs. Every time, the hospitality industry said it would be the death of them. 10 years later, no one gives a damn. People still go to pubs and a lot less people smoke. It worked.

Terrifying RC Helicopter Breaks Reality
I can imagine this in a horror film. Someone walking down a dark alley. They hear a buzz and turn their head. Nothing. Continue walking, another buzz, this time closer. They look up. Nothing. Turn the corner and and this flying lawnmower comes down the street at 30MPH flipping around like a mechanized butterfly knife!!
Millennial Home Buyer
Oh, that explains a lot. The closer you get to downtown and to UT, the rent/sale value rises exponentially on houses I wouldn't let my pets live in. I've seen crappy 1940's houses that are falling apart listed for 400k and up that close to UT.
Yeah, Austin is pretty tame. I live in one of the sort of 'bad' areas and we never have had any issues. The closest I've ever come to real trouble is when I walking away from a music venue in south-east Austin a few years back. Three guys asked if I wanted to buy a knife and I, like a total idiot, was like "Sorry, I might have but I spent all my cash inside the club."
It was only after finished walking to my car and left that I realized they were kind of attempting to mug me.
Edit: On the flip side though, unless you live in a district the city keeps the taxes artificially low in (IE, east Austin), you get reamed. Our house is from the late 50's and is valued at 215k, but our yearly property/school taxes run over 4k. Since they just took out another huge bond, I expect next years will be closer to 5.
I stand corrected.
Some of those didn't even look horrible. I just did a quick Zillow search, obviously they don't have every listing, but I thought they were better than that.
I still can't believe what my brother got for his rat nest, but it is under 10 blocks from UT. Location, location, location.
I agree, a bad Austin neighborhood is like a great LA neighborhood. I lived in East Palo Alto for years, so I know bad neighborhoods. ;-)
Racist is what you do, not what you say.
I just want to point out that I posted this video because it reminded me of another classic show from many years ago, All in the Family.
As to my personal opinion, we need to get past words, guys and gals. I am a white male of Italian descent. In my life I have been called a lot of names, by people of all ethnic backgrounds. I have been called a wop, a dago, a greasy (wop/dago), a cracker, whitey, and many other things. As a kid, it definitely hurt sometimes, but I came to understand that it could only hurt me if "I" let the names define me as a person. The N word, the C word, whatever word, only can hurt you if you allow it to do so.
Now treating someone different, directly based on their ethnicity, that is something that needs to be addressed. It will ALWAYS need to be addressed because human nature is to shun differences. In the US, we have problems with racism and sexism, but out of all the countries I can think of, we are blended enough that it is actually (slowly) starting to work out. We definitely aren't the worst, even countries in Europe that pride themselves on being accepting of diversity are flipping their shit right now with the influx of so many strange people (refugees). Countries like Japan and states like Hawaii, that is where you need to visit if you want to see some hardcore cultural racism.
Quantum Mechanics (Now with Added Ducks) - exurb1a
But I've just developed the duck flipper 2240 that can flip up to 1120 ducks at one time with a rotational speed of 1440 degrees per second, and read the orientations of the same number of receiver ducks. This should allow at least AT&T level audio.
And more importantly, you have no control over the state of the duck.
So you can look at 1120 ducks (enough information to encode an SMS in ascii), but you can't change them.
Epic Anti-texting rant
