200KM/H Crash Test

oritteropo says...

Fifth gear explained that in the intro to their test. This type of crash is so far beyond the design parameters of the car that it doesn't really tell us much about how these cars would fare in a more normal crash, instead they wanted to demonstrate the total devastation of a crash at speeds that most modern cars can achieve. Oh, and they were curious about what would happen.

I wonder if they actually learn anything at those speeds. Assume they must or they wouldn't do it. Be interesting to know what it might be.

I cut/groomed 200-275 lawns in a 20 day period listening to this song on a 17 dollar walmart mp3 plaer, two days before the end of that spring job it started shitting out, I can remember being happy when the later end of the song kicked in, its like you r driving in fourth, and then it kicks it up a gear(over drive) and you are cutting grass, smiling, and grooving 2:25, fifth gear.

^ I didn't know Fifth Gear was ever anything BUT a complete rip off of Top Gear, and a piss poor one at that.
The thing that makes Top Gear fascinating for me is the hosts by and large. The challenges are pretty cool (The Shuttle one still ranks as one of my favourite moments on tv), but it's the hosts that make them entertaining.
Having said that... this was pretty awesome

We are talking about Channel Five here, a channel whose sister station was named 'Fiver' because that's how much its television shows cost to make. Or that's what one of the Spice Girls told me.

Fifth Gear is actually a continuation of the old Top Gear. They wanted to keep the name "Top Gear" but BBC did not allow this so they used the name Fifth Gear.
The new format Top Gear was launched later in 2002 and has been a blessing to all of mankind ever since.

Of all the contrived "Shoot-out" style features that Top Gear and Fifth Gear stage, this has got to be the lamest with the absolute most foregone conclusion. Yawn, but still an upvote.

i always wondered how many Stigs there actually are. Oh and typical fanboy whining mode on: The show lost so much of its greatness with the leaving of Tiff. But thank god or the flying spaghetti monster that we have Fifth Gear now :-)

Oh *yawn*. Fifth Gear is incredibly boring. I watch Top Gear for the comedy, the cars are just a bonus.
