Why This Anesthesiologist Quit

Just gonna leave this here....

Wiki-
Dr Michael Klaper-In August 1993 Klaper issued a medical certificate for the insurers of two movies that River Phoenix was working on at the time, Dark Blood and Interview With the Vampire. The certificate was signed by both Klaper and Phoenix and stated that Phoenix had never used "LSD, heroin, cocaine, alcohol in excess, or any other narcotic, depressant, stimulant or psychedelic. At the time Phoenix was deeply into the drug scene and died from a drug overdose two months later on October 31, 1993. Phoenix's death resulted in Dark Blood being scrapped, and his role in Interview with the Vampire being replaced by Christian Slater. A total $US5.7 million was paid out by the insurers of both movies as the result of Phoenix's death. Since Phoenix's death, insurance rates have increased significantly, medical certificates are no longer accepted, and actors are required to undergo more rigorous medical examination prior to being insured. [23]

According to oncologist David Gorski "Klaper subscribes to the all-too-common claim that a vegan diet is better than any other and supplements that claim with a belief that undergoing fasts, in which one consumes only water, is a major part of the path to health and wellness". He supports multiple pseudoscience medical claims such as acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathy and border-line "germ theory denialism". Klaper also gives "highly dubious advice for cancer patients, even claiming that fasting can shrink malignant tumors. Klaper claims that fasts will clear up inflammation, eczema, arthritis and other issues. "The situation" according to Gorski, is "way more complicated than Dr. Klaper paints it". As a surgeon himself, Gorski is appalled that Klaper claims that fasting encourages "faster wound healing" a statement that Gorski calls "Bullshit!". Magician Penn Jillette reported on multiple podcasts that he has lost over 25 pounds on Klaper's water fast diet, Gorski responded that of course he will lose weight on a water-only diet. In Gorski's opinion as a medical doctor himself, "Jillette has fallen "hook, line, and sinker for a whole lot of dietary pseudoscience and promoting it on his show with a credulous interview with someone like Dr. Klaper". Gorski hopes that Jillette will eventually realize "that Dr. Klaper is peddling highly dubious claims (at best). Basically, the product Dr. Klaper is peddling in terms of science is a massive exaggeration based on dubious science, cherry picked cases, and bad evolutionary analogies. Worse, fasts, even when supervised by a physician, are potentially dangerous"

Guns with History

Tobacco: 229875
Alcohol: 65678
Drunk Driving: 22204
Drug Abuse: 16423
Prescription Drug Overdose: 9852
..........
Gun related: 8,561

Dishonest use of numbers. the "gun related" tallys the number of people killed by gun violence ie people shot and killed intentionally by other people, it does not include suicide (about 20k dead a year) or accidental shootings (about 700 dead a year)

Secondly, lets look at these other causes of death: Lets see, all of these, except drunk driving, is people KILLING THEMSELVES, unintentionally. Theres a pretty big difference. Drunk driving is ILLEGAL, and nobody is arguing that it would be a good idea to have more of it. And you know, its not like we're trying to get more people killed by tobacco, for instance, in fact, lots of people are working on trying to lower the number of deaths from all these other things, but just because more people die from alcohol or tobacco use, ten to fifteen thousand murder by guns a year doesnt really count??

Secondly, people are on the whole not actually working to get guns BANNED, but to implement restrictions, perhaps in the same way owning and driving a car has its restrictions. Cars, you see, are not banned. But there are RESTRICTIONS. Does anyone feel there arent enough cars around?. No. But there are restrictions. You need a drivers license. you need to follow some traffic rules. Similar things could be implemented for guns. It would be a start.
Another place to start is gun CULTURE, which is probably the intent of this video, changing people minds about guns.

Heres a challenge to your statistics: The number of people SAVED by guns. We always hear of the elusive situation of a bad criminal breaking in to kill your family, but luckily dads an NRA member and chases the bad guy away with a trusty old gun. How often does shit like that ever actually happen?

Guns with History

So, lets start a list shall we?

1. Incorrectly secured gun
2. Incorrectly secured gun
3. Incorrectly secured gun(s)
4. Legally owned gun(s) that were registered. Due to a series of errors, the shooter was not stopped.

2015 deaths so far in the USA:

Tobacco: 229875
Alcohol: 65678
Drunk Driving: 22204
Drug Abuse: 16423
Prescription Drug Overdose: 9852
..........
Gun related: 8,561

When you break it down, this is fucking low brow propaganda to scare people into banning something without a true understanding of how that will affect their other freedoms.

Koch Brothers Can't Stand Their Own Organizations

lantern53 says...

Pretty sad that Basement Boy has to try and ride the coattails of a losing liberal commentator.

But who knows what reasons the Koch brothers have for doing what they do. As for the Florida law, I think it sounds pretty awesome. People who get gov't taxpayer money should be drug tested. The leading cause of death in the county where I live is drug overdose. Heroin overdoses are now epidemic. My wife just went to a funeral for a girl, 24 yrs old, who overdosed. My wife's best friend's daughter got addicted to heroin. Church-going people.

But instead of talking about something important, Ms. Bloviator sounds like she's just uncovered the greatest scandal since Teapot Dome. She must be very satisfied with herself. Bravo.

Daily Show: Australian Gun Control = Zero Mass Shootings

Jerykk says...

Except that's not the truth at all. Massachusetts passed strict gun control laws in 1998 and its crime rates (including gun-related crimes) have increased significantly since then. D.C. has the strictest gun laws in the country but also has (by far) the highest rate of gun-related crime. Conversely, Vermont has the lowest rate (about 59 times lower than D.C.) while also having extremely lax gun control laws.

So no, the issue isn't quite as clear cut as you seem to suggest. There is no consistent correlation between gun control and gun crime rates. Banning something doesn't make it magically disappear and considering the fact that the majority of guns used in crimes are already obtained illegally, gun control really only affects people who obey the law (i.e. not criminals). Guns already exist. Criminals already have guns. Criminals already sell and distribute guns illegally. Gun control laws are completely irrelevant to these people.

The irony in all this is that the people calling for gun control are often the same ones calling for the legalization of drugs. We all know how effective the ban on drugs has been. Why would you think that a ban on guns would be any different?

What we do know is that guns are a deterrent and an equalizer. It's the reason why 9 out of 10 mass shootings take place in schools or other places where people are least likely to be armed. It's the reason why a robber is less likely to rob someone he believes to be armed than someone he believes to be unarmed. Strict gun laws only bolster a criminal's confidence that he can get away unscathed because he's the only one with a gun.

Finally, are people seriously including suicide-by-firearm as a relevant statistic? If somebody wants to commit suicide, there a multiple ways they can go about it. Hanging, slit wrists, drug overdose, jumping out the window, etc. If a gun is unavailable, they'll just use another method.

mram said:

It doesn't have to be cut and dry, black and white.

The argument has largely been morphed by the pro-gun advocates that "Gun control won't stop gun violence".

The flat truth of it is that gun control helps curb gun-related violence. It's not about eliminating it. It's about making reasonable efforts that yield measurable results. The counterargument should NOT be that it's not enough, that's just silly... and downright insulting to the victims.

Police Slap & Taser 10 yr old at Day Care Center

>> ^marinara:

as much as i hate police violence, a taser aint gonna hurt a young boy at all. Probably still needs to be whipped after you taser him.

I don't know what makes you so sure that Tasers won't hurt a young boy. Over 351 people in the U.S. alone have died after being shocked by Tasers. Now I know that other factors could have contributed to those deaths in some cases (drug overdoses, heart conditions, etc.), but that doesn't mean that Tasers are in no way dangerous to young children.

Tasers are supposed to be used as an alternative to firearms, i.e., only when a situation calls for potentially lethal force. Unless that kid had a deadly weapon, there is no way that he should have even been tasered in the first place. Two grown men couldn't subdue an unarmed 10 yr old boy without using a Taser? If that's the case, then they shouldn't be cops in the first place.

IT'S ON, BROTHERS AND SISTERS. KULPIMS GETS WHAT'S COMING! (Parody Talk Post)

therealblankman says...

Time to put a bullet in the brain of this dying horse. Received word from Buttholeistan- apparently Kulpims died of that paper-cut I mentioned. His passing will be mourned by exactly nobody. His corpse was cremated, but unfortunately the undertaker got a whiff of the smoke and died immediately of a drug overdose.

Thanks to all those who participated in this wake, and to those who came and only voted on the comments without posting one themselves, I raise my middle finger in salute.

GOODNIGHT EVERYONE!

Going up the Country - Canned Heat

Interesting to note: Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson, who is singing here, couldn't see anything 2 feet in front of him while performing, as he wasn't wearing his glasses. Might be why he has that kind of dazed, glazed over look going on. He was an interesting individual; a blues scholar and musicologist, he often slept outside to be closer nature, and in 1964 did a lot of work to reintroduce the iconic bluesman, Eddie "Son" House, back onto the scene - teaching him his own songs, which he had recorded 30-40 years earlier, again. He was yet another amazing young musician who left the world too early, at age 27, of a drug overdose.

Pentagon Investigation Evidence Contradicts Official Story

blankfist says...

^I agree, shole. If I start to ask why, I end up with "what about the passengers of the plane?" or "why would our government go to great lengths to fake 911?" I think the asking those sorts of questions are important, but regardless the facts these truthers come up with is pretty interesting and worth entertaining, I think.

If your brother was dead, the police said he died of a drug overdose, but your neighbor said he saw the body and there was a knife sticking out of his body, would you not ask tough questions to ensure he wasn't in fact stabbed to death. And certainly the first question you'd ask yourself is "why would the police go to great lengths to fake an overdose?"

I want to know more about Lloyd's story. To me, that was the most damning piece of information.

Three of the child stars ended up having problems after the show ended. Dana Plato went on to pose for Playboy, and also appeared in softcore films. She was later arrested twice (once for armed robbery, again for forging a prescription for Valium). She died of a drug overdose in 1999 at the age of 34.[2]
Todd Bridges was arrested in 1994 after allegedly ramming someone's car after an argument.[3] He also had issues with illegal drugs for several years, before turning his life around. He has since traveled across the U.S.A., touring schools discussing the dangers of drug use.[4]
In 1989, Gary Coleman sued his parents and his former manager over misappropriation of his trust fund. Although he was awarded over $1,000,000 in the decision, he filed for bankruptcy in 1999. Coleman was charged with assault in 1998 after he punched a woman while he was working as a security guard at a shopping mall. In 2001, Coleman (still working as a security guard) was videotaped trying to stop a vehicle from entering the mall. The driver ridiculed him, and released the tape to be broadcast on numerous television shows.[5] In the mid-2000s, Coleman lent his voice and likeness to the controversial videogame Postal2. In 2007, Coleman was cited for disorderly conduct in Provo, Utah for having a "heated discussion" with a woman.[6]

The Truth About U.S. Drug Laws

Duckman33 says...

Sorry, I don't like it. And I'm not moving the fuck anywhere. YOUR country? YOU own it? Since when?

The only (big and extremely ignorant) reason America as a whole does not want it legal is because they've been brainwashed into thinking it's BAD! It's of the devil. It will make you a crazy person, wanting to rape and kill!

Do you know how many people die a year from alcohol? 125,000+! And it's legal. And addictive!

Do you know how many die a year from smoking weed? 0! And it's not legal. And non-addictive. What's wrong with this picture?

Here's some numbers for you to chew on Mr. Owner of America:

Deaths per year from:
Tobacco=340,000-395,000
Alcohol (not including accidents)=125,000+
Drug overdose (prescription)=14,000-27,000
Drug overdose (illegal)=3,800-5,200
Marijuana=0

You also cannot get lung cancer from smoking it. It has been proven to block Alzheimer's disease. It helps cancer patients with their appetites after chemo. It helps with pain, sleeping disorders, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Now, put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!!

>> ^jmd:
I love all the people who think it would be a good thing if it were legal.
Heres a big reason why pot does not get legalized... America as a whole does not WANT IT!
I'll admit that it has medicine properties that can be used for people whos health is failing, but what we don't want, don't need is another cigarette. We don't need people polluting the air we breath any more then it already is. We don't need people impairing themselves while they are around us. It is a demonstrated fact that most people in this world are idiot incapable of making wise decisions day to day. Adding another weapon to their arsenal to screw with my life is not something I am gonna run right out and sign on.
If you dont like it...move the f out of my country!
