He intentionally ignores the fact that the corrections dept is the largest lobbying group in Washington and lobbies for more draconian laws and mandatory sentences because that's how they make money. No inmates, no dough.

He intentionally ignores the fact that most convicts are in prison for non-violent drug crimes, not murder, not rape, not violent crime at all.

'This is prison utopia...for the inmates.'
He seems too dense and set in his 'us VS them' mentality to see that it's prison utopia for the guards too, and society in the long run because this prison doesn't create violent criminals, it creates well adjusted citizens.

Imagine that, treating inmates like human beings, because we want them to act like human beings when they're released. And big surprise, it works! Not only less recidivism, but less problems while they're in the system as well.
Thanks to privatization and profitization of prisons and lobbying by prison guard unions, and a mindset by so many that all 'criminals' are sub-humans that don't deserve proper treatment, we'll never see this in the USA.

Did you watch the whole video? People are wasting money on a diet that won't cure their symptoms and in some cases, is actually worse than a "regular" gluten diet.

Plus gluten is awesome. Any kind of really good pizza or bread dough relies on it. So do most beers. Why make yourself miserable if you don't have to?

Like someone else said. People keep buying this stuff. The demand is there and they are just supplying it.

I have to agree, both versions are horrible, but I don't like pop in the first place, so I am biased.

Too many people actually give a damn about what celebrities do when they're not making movies or singing songs. Many of the celebrities themselves are sick of the frenzy. Some give it up, but some stay for the paycheck. How many times do people refer to a celebrity by their character's name instead of their actual name. "Oh shit, I just saw Captain Kirk!", vs "Oh shit, I just saw William Shatner!"

When people don't like the drudgery of their own lives, they start thinking about other peoples' lives.

My first inclination? Hit the gas and roll this prick like dough all over his own car, but that's me....with way-better survival skills and an innate, leap-into-action attitude regarding such, todays'-a-good-day-to-die fuck-up types.

Someone at work brought these chocolate chip cookies in today. I asked her to email me the recipe since they were really good. So here you go...

Chocolate Chip Cookies
(makes 6 dozen cookies)

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, then set aside.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix powder until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets covered in parchment paper. Refrigerate dough between batches so the dough doesn't become too soft before baking.

3. Bake for approximately 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Could be more or less depending on your oven. Edges should be golden brown.

Made these last night-I call em:

Chewy Sugar Cookies (monster version)

2 3/4 cups flour (sifted with:)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder

I cup (2 sticks) salted, butter (softened)
1 1/2 cups whole cane sugar
1 egg
1tsp (or to taste) vanilla extract
3-6 tbsp buttermilk
some ground cinnamon, and some more sugar for later

sift dry ingredients into bowl
in a separate bowl, cream sugar, extract, egg, and a small glug of buttermilk until creamy
mix wet and dry ingredients and add just enough extra buttermilk to make the mix slightly sticky but not wet (or, the opposite of how you like your women)

NOW comes the monster part:

Add to dough, some pure grated coconut (unsweetened), dried cranberries, and fresh almonds that have been hit with the coffee grinder to chop and powder a bit)

Place the dough in the freezer while you preheat the oven to 375°F

on an un-greased cookie sheet, place small dollops of dough that has been rolled in some of the coconut/almond mix you set aside extra

on top of each dollop that you flatten slightly with a fork, brush-on some buttermilk on each dough-glob, then sprinkle with a sugar and a ground cinnamon mix

Bake for 8-10 minutes on second-to-top oven rack

The whole issue about calories is a misdirect, there are dozens of other more important reasons why McD's is worse than trash. A couple of examples - the food is loaded with all manner of artificial ingredients, it's lacking in quality fiber, it's highly processed (low nutritional value), and the quality of the macro ingredients is very poor - i.e. the use of trans-fats as @RedSky points out, as well as the use of poor quality sugars (i.e. HFCS) to sweeten the dough.

That's not even to mention the exploitation of their workers, rainforest clearing to raise cattle, wasteful use of plastic packaging etc.

I figure I'm in the minority, but I will never get the appeal. I have gone to many of the highly recommended Pizza places in New York and surrounding areas, and New York pizza is greasy, soggy, falls apart, and has had sub-par everything.

I love deep-dish, but I've only had the chance to eat it one time.

Being originally from California, I have to say I dearly miss Round Table Pizza where I live now. Probably the only time I've been a fan of a chain-restaurant, ever, but everything from their slightly-spicy and rich sauce, to their delicious dough and cheeses is perfect to me.

California Pizza Kitchen is pretty good too if you like your pizzas "different".

But FUCK New York style pizza. I just don't get the appeal. I probably never will.

Man...I miss Shakey's pizza-They had this uber-thin crispy-cracker crust and the ingredients in the late 70's (last time I saw Shakey's pizza open) were of a definably (through-taste-bud-memory), much higher quality. But maybe I've simply killed my taste buds from abuse...

I agree with whoever said essentially though, if you start with good pizza ingredients, you can't go too far south.

I too, dislike a ginormous amount of dough with a bite of pizza...thin-as-hell crust rocks-Stayed in Chicago for 2 months, never hadda slice of pizza-But I DID slam all-manner of Polish and German fare in small restaurants in the part of town I was staying in. Fresh bakeries of varied ethnicity is what I remember most-The BOMB is, fresh baked!

I do a deep-type dish pizza whenever I make a batch of dough and split it into two balls instead of three...But mines' not all runny and watery an shit like some glopstrosoties I've had...it's all in the water(vegetables) on the top-

Yeah, and fuck a buncha pineapple on pizza....maybe onna vacation camping-out as a have-to-I'm-famished boost...
