I heart Gav and Dan ... silly fellas

Well... it is. In 2001 a grocer was convicted for using scales which only showed imperial weights, but that doesn't mean that the people have wholeheartedly adopted the system (see this article from BBC News Magazine for example).

I visited in 2002, and found that it was metric enough to make it comfortable for an Australian We were visiting a friend who is a vet nurse... who would weigh animals at work in kilograms, but herself in stones. If you've watched Gav and Dan in the slowmo guys videos, they measure distances in centimetres, inches, metres, kilometres, and miles.

Might I also point out that the U.S. is also officially a metric country, and has been for 148 years, after an act of congress was passed authorising the use of metric weights and measures in 1866 (ref http://science.howstuffworks.com/why-us-not-on-metric-system2.htm), and having been the only English speaking country to become a signatory to the Metre Convention (in 1875).

Hitch was simply the best. Never, ever, did I see him beaten in any debate. He was succinct, intellectually disarming and erudite. He had wit, common sense in abundance and his rational debunking of religion was a joy to behold. Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Dan Dennett are all excellent in their own way, but Hitch? He was in a league of his own, and died leaving so much unsaid.

Context:
After looking up the title on Youtube ("Dans la peau d'un Noir"), it turned out to be a documentary from 2007 where two French families, one black one white, "switched" their skin colors to experiment with discrimination (or its sudden absence, as the case may be). Its Wikipedia page mention John Howard Griffin's "Black Like Me" as an inspiration.

Additional note which I feel obliged to mention for American viewers: there were no minstrel shows, and so there is no concept of "blackface", in Europe. Of course disguising yourself into some sort of racial stereotype would bring the same type of reaction as anywhere else (or so I hope), but just changing your skin tone would not be considered offensive in itself.
