400ft Tall Halloween Light and Drone Show

newtboy says...

Ahhhh…so this is really a *commercial

I think you’re right, that’s (usually) the idea, bringing joy to the neighborhood.
The issue is the assumption that a million watts of flashing lights and thousands of visitors deadlocking the neighborhood for a month each year brings joy, not rage. I think that is a mistaken assumption.

I recall one of the earlier houses like this that went viral early had years of legal battles with the neighbors because they clearly didn’t care that the neighbors hated it and were annoyed to the extreme, and just kept making it bigger despite numerous complaints.

I’m all for this in areas where everyone subjected to it (and the huge crowds it brings) first signs off giving permission….permission they can revoke…with laws/rules requiring it be taken down at the first neighborhood complaint.

It's their business which makes the video imo kinda meh. I like to think, those that create things like this, do it for the joy it brings to the neighborhood. Makes me think it's more of an ad, but I'm guessing its also their passion. https://magicallightshows.com/

Midterm uphill battle for Democcrats

newtboy says...

Thanks to far right extremist billionaire, Trumpist, and allegedly 1/3 owner of Fox News corp John Malone exerting control from his board seat, CNN has gone far right…no longer allowed to discuss “the big lie”, no longer to have any biased opinion shows (like all of Fox). He claims he wants CNN to be centrist (his actions belie that claim) and become the network preferred by Democrats and Republicans….as if that were possible, reasonable, or profitable. CNN will never be the preferred source for Republicans, ever, and it’s blatantly obvious all his actions are doing is driving away Democrats and independents.

https://prospect.org/politics/altercation-can-cnn-actually-get-worse-apparently-it-can/
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/aug/24/the-changes-at-cnn-look-politically-motivated-that-should-concern-us-all

It is now becoming a “water boy” news outlet, carrying water for far right extremists with water on the brain.

That “uphill battle” sure has turned, hasn’t it? Guaranteed Republican wins are falling like flies. ROEVEMBER is coming for the treasonous right. Hide and watch.

Ok Bob. Do you want to admit you are a number of agents who post nonsense as bobknight33, or that you are a single person with the memory of a gnat, because I’ve told you a few dozen times what I do. Those are the only two reasonable explanations for you needing to ask. I won’t bother repeating myself again, you won’t remember in an hour anyway.

I’ve got time for news, and the right’s slanted/fake alternative facts…. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles….”….sorry, thoughtless of me to think you would appreciate Sun Tzu. I’ll simplify, I get the better of you every time because I’m informed, you fail every time because you don’t even understand your own positions, you’re just regurgitating what you were fed.

I see enough of the hearings to have a clue. I record them. I know you haven’t watched a second as you were instructed not to so your “leaders” can spin it as they choose and you won’t know better. God forbid some evidence or testimony opens your eyes.

Wow Dick Tracy on the watch.
Thanks Dick.

You don't work do you ?
You have way too much time that you waste on slanted/ fake stories.

You must be glued to the Jan 6 hearings.
Stupid but still better than any TV show.

City of Akron responding to the shooting of Jayland Wlaker

newtboy says...

Hardly elitist at under $35k per year for a couple in California.
Not even superior overall as far as I know, (overall superiority is a complicated non standardized judgement to make without complete information about both of us, but thanks for saying you believe it.).
Just somewhat educated not even highly educated, but often more importantly I keep myself decently informed. Sorry to burst your bubble.
(Edit: this means not only learning the facts, but also the “alternative facts”. I read Tzu, and believe in his theory that if you know yourself and your enemy you will be victorious in every battle.)

It’s the smug ignorant incorrect certitude I can’t go for, and you exhibit it daily without ever admitting your mistakes or that you were w-w-w-wrong, just silently moving on to the next falsehood when it’s proven.

Ohio GOP Primary Debate

newtboy says...

We’ve been over this. Repeatedly.
He was trolling them, as he often did. This was his style. It just goes over your head.
If he’s one of the dumb ones, Democrats are hyper intelligent super brains. I certainly don’t think that.

Johnson grew up in Washington, D.C. His father worked for the Bureau of Prisons and was the director of classifications and paroles. Up to that time, he was the highest ranking African-American in the bureau.
Johnson received his B.A. degree from Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University) in 1976, is a member of Omega Psi Phi Kappa Alpha Alpha Chapter, Decatur, Georgia, and received his J.D. degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston in 1979; he practiced law in Decatur, Georgia, for more than 25 years.

From 1989 to 2001, Johnson served as an associate judge of the DeKalb County magistrate's court. He was elected to the DeKalb County Commission in 2000 and served from 2001 to 2006.

Edit: "The subtle humor of this obviously metaphorical reference to a ship capsizing illustrated my concern about the impact of the planned military buildup on this small tropical island," Johnson said in a statement at the time.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported last year that Johnson has battled Hepatitis C for more than a decade, an ailment that causes him to get "lost in thought in the middle of a discussion."

He’s hardly dumb. I know it’s hard to know from your viewpoint, but you’ve been well informed before….you could TRY to remember a few facts you are taught.

That said, there do seem to be real reasons why he should retire, not the least of which is hep C that’s recently left him sick and weak. You don’t need to be dishonest to make your point, bob. Why are you?

Always dishonest Bob. Every time you post. It’s really sad. Sour grapes have rotted your brain.

Edit: BTW, this isn’t just two out of control, violent Retrumpicans, they are representative of all Trumpists, and this display was done to appeal to people just like you, Bobby, and be your actual representatives.

Disagreement About Masks at Christmas 2021 in Math Class

newtboy says...

@bcglorf
Reading bible passages in class as “something we can all agree on” is the definition of proselytizing to a captive audience….and outside of private religious schools is totally inappropriate.

It’s not “fun” to be ostracized in public because you believe different mythology or are smart enough to ignore all stone aged mythology…..really only disbelieving one more myth than the believers.

Getting the season completely wrong because you don’t know it was chosen to make it easier to use religion as a political tool is a bit different from “the exact date being inaccurate”. It’s an outright, bold faced, well documented lie, created as a political ploy from the 4th century used to degrade and absorb Zoasterism/Mithraism in order to control the masses politically. That is absolutely a “credibility” issue, and if you don’t get it, that’s an education and/or ethics issue. Christianity has many major credibility issues, being “created” (codified) as a political tool is just one of them. Stealing almost every bit of the mythology from previous religions and denying it is another.

Yes, the misuse of Fauci clips out of context is another issue of truthfulness here, but those who are intentionally ignorant of the reality they just lived through are lost and not worth wasting my breath on. As anyone with two brain cells knows, the first, “you don’t need to wear a mask in public” was recommended at that time because a massive mask shortage meant health care workers had to reuse paper masks sometimes for months during a major pandemic, (and clearly they needed priority on the limited supply) not because we had information saying they weren’t useful….but that’s a minor detail of history I feel only brain dead ignoramuses consider in question, relevant, or factual, and they have discarded fact, truth, reason, and logic in favor of their cult of personality….so there’s no real point arguing with them. Just let them get Covid and hope for EIA.

Preaching one religion in a public class room and claiming “we all agree” is a continuation of a much more pernicious, long term, continuing battle for the religious freedom our country was founded on, and I find it outrageous and anti American that you dismiss it as nothing. I can only hope your children’s teachers aren’t a vastly different, contradictory religion than you and they don’t teach your children that everyone agrees with their religion, not yours, and don’t use proveable fallacies to make their point….but if they do I’ll be here to dismiss your concerns.

Joe Biden Taliban billboard

newtboy says...

This is what Republicans think is patriotism. Biden is your president....of your country.

Funny they forgot who handed Afghanistan back to the Taliban....it wasn't Biden, it was the guy who negotiated our surrender and retreat, and the handover of control, without involving the Afghan government in those negotiations.

The same guy who released >5000 Taliban combatants from prison last year with no preconditions.

Funny the right forgot they want a theocratic government here, often insisting we already have one. Funny the right forgets that they have at least 2 certified terrorist organizations spearheading their party and thousands of members prosecuted for domestic terrorism (although many were allowed to plead to just trespassing for some unexplained reason). Funny the right forgets they are in a battle to remove self autonomy from women, stripping their rights to control their bodies. Does anyone think, if they're successful, that they're going to stop at outlawing abortion? They're pretty vocal about ending women's (and minority) suffrage too, and ending anything that helps women advance in the workplace. Once they strip that power, look the fuck out, any other rights will be gone in weeks once they can't vote.

There's one party in America that resembles the Taliban, and it's not the Democrats, Bob.

Just duh, @bobknight33. You're so far out of your ankle deep depth here....just like on that other thread where you can't explain how you have the facts absolutely backwards about the very machines you claim are your career and area of expertise.

Trump made the Taliban great again. Absolutely zero question among those who can remember last year. Sadly that apparently leaves Bob and most of the right wing out.

TX law & tattoos

newtboy says...

You certainly pretended to be, and pretended to have first hand knowledge of the situation, and knowledge of what all Texan Christians all think on the subject. Turns out you don't know shit first hand, and are arguing based on uninformed opinions you hold, not knowledge. It's called a lie by omission.

Texans didn't vote for this, their representatives did. You are telling Texans what to think and do....insisting because a majority are Christian they must be anti choice, and since pro choice people lost one battle they should just leave Texas, but the same doesn't go for Texans who are anti choice and had lost every battle until this one. See how infantile your argument is now?

America is a representative democracy....a democratic republic, not a democracy. Some places like California have direct voter approved laws, so are partly democratic, but mostly representatives choose our laws and path. Assuming that because one person wins an election means all their voters approve of everything they do shows a naivete usually reserved for pre kindergarten kids.

Lol when did I ever say I'm Christian or from Texas or even from the Un-United States of America...

"who knows what people in Texas should think" lol that is what you numbnuts are doing. Bitching about a law being implemented that you don't agree with and telling Texans what to think.

I'm just pro democracy and anti abortion, mocking the morons that's purposely bringing down their own country from within. Its so sad/pathetic what you guy's have become in just 5 years. Rome is burning and yet you are still at each others throats...
