Guys Reaction to Justin Bieber Getting Arrested

Payback says...

The sad thing is, the Beebs probably hates himself more than his Haters do. Sure has no self respect whatsoever.

Fun Fact: The car rental company has GPS tracking and says he never got over low 50s, mostly doing low 30s. I did more "racing" in my 1969 bone-stock Ford Cortina.

Yup - the first times I heard it I got goosebumps, every time. And yes, I can usually find the correct button. Usually.
That bonus CD was even better than the main "At the Beeb" album itself. And to later find out that the performance was caught on video too - mmmmh.

Have You Ever Seen An Ant HURRICANE?

Thanks, but I am not really an ant expert. I just a fan of ants. That text was mentioned in the video comments' link. Anyways, back to my circular wanderings on the Internet and for food.

You, sir, are full of awesome information about ants.

Have You Ever Seen An Ant HURRICANE?

http://theantroom.blogspot.com/2006/11/ant-death-spiral.html (not mine -- linked from YouTube video).

"This is one of my favorite things about ants -- the ant death spiral. Actually, it's a circular mill, first described in army ants by Schneirla (1944). A circle of army ants, each one following the ant in front, becomes locked into a circular mill. They will continue to circle each other until they all die. How crazy is that? Sometimes they escape, though. Beebe (1921) described a circular mill he witnessed in Guyana. It measured 1200 feet in circumference and had a 2.5 hour circuit time per ant. The mill persisted for two days, "with ever increasing numbers of dead bodies littering the route as exhaustion took its toll, but eventually a few workers straggled from the trail thus breaking the cycle, and the raid marched off into the forest."

Folks interested in things like self-organization, emergant properties, complex systems, etc. etc. like to point to this as a cautionary tale. I even found a reference to a group programming robots to interact like ants that accidentally produced this behavior in their robots. Apparently you can also reproduce this behavior in the lab by placing a glass jar into the surface. The ants will eventually circle the jar and continue to do so even after the jar has been removed. I assume just army ants. Wow, I wish we had an army ant colony in the lab."

Fox News' Video Cropping Shenanigans

Mashiki says...

>> ^rougy Save yourself some time, admit that you're wrong.
Or you can go ahead and make more excuses for Fox News, claiming that they're just like everybody else...which is to say, you can pull a QM and just tell some more lies.

Wrong? Hardly, you asked for and got exactly what you wanted. The irony is delicious.

Perhaps you should go look at the Beeb in your spare time, then again they don't publish their retractions quite like that either, like most other major networks. So you'd have a very hard time finding out exactly what, is what. I'm not sure what is sadder, that you believe that this isn't standard operating procedure for all networks. Or that you actually think I'm making an excuse for Fox.

Once you actually start looking at things critically instead of looking at things as you feel like, perhaps you'll understand my last three posts. And exactly where I'm coming from.

Hearing Test

sillma says...

I'm pretty sure the high ends don't work well, if at all in this test. The sounds seem to break around 14k, I can hear slight beebs at every k after that, but I'm sure that they're not nearly as high frequency as they should be, and the sound isn't continuous at all, just very short beeps on each k.
