Graham Chapman on the Merv Griffin Show

grahamchapman_ says...

Hello! I currently run the Instagram account @/grahamchapman_ where I find archive footage and photos, keeping up Graham's legacy. I was wondering if you may have saved this before it got deleted from YouTube? I am desperate for new material. Thank you!

Serenity with Mixed Liquids - HD

Very chill. Reminds me of the kind of makeshift psychedelic images The Pink Floyd used to project during their shows back in the 1970s (not that I was there, but I've seen archival footage) except in high definition and rich depth and colour.

Booyaahkasha!
Stewart is on a roll .. sheer brilliance yet again. And I absolutely love the precision of which the Daily Show staff finds gold in historic video archive footage.

It is truly amazing (and kinda sad) how the Daily Show research staff wipes the floor with all other major "news" sources.

It's a little strange, but I suspect it's just something mundane like a technical problem, or depending on what the gap really was (like one file ended, and the next file picked up a minute later), it may have just been cut to save space.

That kind of thing is completely normal, McCain's just a liar who wants to express fake outrage because Democrats are stopping Republicans from using a favorite delay tactic.

Rachel Maddow had a segment on the whole Lieberman-Franken-McCain fiasco you posted: http://videosift.com/video/Rachel-Maddow-Missing-C-SPAN-Video-Of-McCain-s-Objection

That blank spot in the archive footage is very conspicuous, isn't it?

Rock Steady Crew Documentary (RARE)

Sporgie says...

Hiya, I was just wondering if anybody has any extra information on this documentary. I am currently researching archive footage for the 32nd rock steady crew anniversary and wanted to know information such as who created this as there are no credits or production names what so ever on the documentary, and if the footage is royalty footage or will cost a lot to use in a TV Show.

I hope you reply back, thanks in advance

Sporgie.

Secret Government Project For Thermonuclear Spacecraft

Thylan says...

I saw a doc on the project of "bombs" being released to explode in sequence beneath a blast shield/saucer, so as to use the blast wave as upwards thrust. theoretically, enough bombs of enough blast, can push really big stuff to orbit. From what i remember of the archival footage, they had this working but I cant remember the specifics. If my memory jogs, i might try to hunt it down.

The Mother of All Demos - Douglas Engelbar

^ yeah. it's the title they used at youtube, but... meh.
"Groundbreaking Internet Conference from 1968"? dunno.
something like that, maybe.

that source clip has a lot of good info to include, in the desc, too.

and yeah, seed. a playlist is warranted, i think. i checked out a couple of 'em and... although it's obviously going to be pretty dry stuff, given that audience?
i thought it was pretty cool archival footage to have around.

Interkosmos: Utopian Communist Space Dance Party

rickegee says...

From the Village Voice:

"Jim Finn's Interkosmos, a retro gust of Communist utopianism, is set to open the New York Underground Film Festival on March 8. A cosmonaut romance set aboard a 1970s East German space mission to colonize the moons of Saturn and Jupiter, Interkosmos weaves together lovingly faked archival footage, charmingly undermotivated musical numbers, propagandistic maxims ("Capitalism is like a kindergarten of boneless children"), stop-motion animation (of a suitably crude GDR-era level), a Teutonic (and vaguely Herzogian) voiceover, and a superb garage-y Kraut-rock score (by Jim Becker and Colleen Burke). Finn's deadpan is immaculately bone-dry, and his antiquarian fastidiousness is worthy of Guy Maddin"

Stephen Colbert...come on, he's dancing! and you love it

Progress Defined

Fedquip says...

You know you don't have to comment on everything.

Why did you "Yawn"?
Are you tired of my submissions?
Did you find this boring?
Did you not get the jokes?
Did you not understand the examples Stewart used to show how Bush has used the same talking points for the last few years?

Well if that example of the Daily Show's use of Archived footage didn't impress you, maybe this exmaple will.
