Bonus- Today we got the body cam footage of the 2021 arrest of Donald Trump’s top lawyer and closest advisor Boris Epshteyn for unwanted repeatedly groping numerous women in a Scottsdale Arizona club for which he took a plea deal for 5 days in jail, fines, probation, no contact orders, and must complete an alcohol abuse program…similar charges to his 2014 arrest for “assault touching” at another nearby club when he made a plea deal including fines, community service, and multiple no contact orders to avoid trial. 😂

Another top MAGA advisor caught for multiple sex crimes.
Did you look up GOP operative and major donor Anton Lazzaro, who identifies and empathizes with Trump’s friend Epstein, who he calls “his brother”?

What do you expect when your leader is a confirmed rapist!?! 😂 (reminding you of that will NEVER get old)

Dog Crashes Car

Khufu says...

ya, if not for safety... do it for your transmission.

edit:

I just remembered jeeps actually had a recall a few years back for electronic parking brakes randomly letting go... which is how Anton Yelchin died. Seems like that's not what happened here though.

There are many different kinds of Satanists. Some are just secular atheists, like Anton Levay. Others literally worship the devil and offer sacrifices to him. These are most likely the former

The Call - The Walls Came Down

ulysses1904 says...

I saw them play this when they opened for Simple Minds in San Antone back in 1986. They sounded great but most of the crowd was teenagers who were only there to hear Simple Minds play that Breakfast Club song.

ZZ Top La Grange live 1982

ulysses1904 says...

I used to drive between San Antone and Houston a lot and whenever I saw the La Grange exit on I-10 I had to throw in this cassette, it became a ritual.

Always made sure to stop to eat at Grumpys in Flatonia, good food there.

Stars We Lost In 2016

Xaielao says...

Of all of the major stars and performers we lost I think the one that stings the most for me is Anton Yelchin. He was so young yet and such a good actor and many of the movies he did were fantastic. Not some generic hollywood 'leading man' with a gruff voice and rugged looks but an intellectual who had incredible potential and an amazing future that will now never happen.

Have you ever heard of Anton Wilhelm Amo? No? Me neither, until last week.

I only bring this up, because he seems to have been a hell of a human being. Let me just mention some bullet points:
- enslaved as a child by the Dutch West India Company
- handed over to the Duke of Brunswick as a present
- freed, baptised and educated by the Duke
- first black man ever at a European university (Halle, later Wittenberg)
- acquired Magister degrees in philosphy and natural sciences
- fluent in six languages
- went back to Ghana after his patron died and the overall climate in Germany become considerably more reactionary than before
- died in a Dutch slave camp in Ghana

Amo was mentioned in a French documentary about the history of capitalism. Apparently, he was (one of) the first to publicly recognise the dangers of separating the economic logic from the reality of a society and human behaviour.

The fact that I had never heard his name even once prior to this documentary frustrates me to no end. The major consensus narrative all but erased him from history...

Antiques Roadshow: A very special Gun

What I listen to each morning of Tax Season

Trancecoach says...

"The other day I saw a film called The Edge, which I regarded as the best thing to come out of Hollywood since The Silence of the Lambs. Perhaps not coincidentally, this flick also starred Anthony Hopkins. In one scene, Hopkins and his co-star, Alec Baldwin, seem in an absolutely hopeless situation, lost in the Arctic, stalked by a hungry bear, without weapons, seemingly doomed. Baldwin collapses, and Hopkins has a magnificent monologue, talking Baldwin out of his despair. The speech runs, roughly, like this: "Did you know you can make fire out of ice? You can, you know. Fire out of ice. Think about it. Fire out of ice. Think. Think."

This riddle has both a pragmatic and symbolic (alchemical) answer. The pragmatic answer you can find in the film, explicitly; and it might prove useful if you ever get lost in the north woods; and the alchemical, or Zen Buddhist, answer is also in the film, implicitly, and only perceptible to those who understand the dense character Hopkins plays in the story. It might prove useful whenever despair seems to overwhelm you. So, to those who at the end of this book still can't understand or sympathize with my Nietzschean yea-saying, I quote again: "Fire out of ice. Think. Think."

Who was that Prometheus guy and why did he give us fire in the first place?"

~Robert Anton Wilson
