Meshuggah announce 25th anniversary tour around Bonnaroo, asking fans to vote on their setlists (dates)

Meshuggah
Few metal bands survive for 25 consecutive years, and even fewer retain a reputation for consistency over such a long period the way Meshuggah have. We already knew that the Swedish djent progenitors were slotted to play this year's edition of Bonnaroo in June, filling the bad-trip-inducement slot that Swans occupied last year. Unsurprisingly, they've also announced a short North American tour built around that date and their ensuing appearance at Quebec's Amnesia Rock Fest. The tour is being billed as a 25th-anniversary celebration for the band, and it also includes Between the Buried & Me on its non-festival dates. Meshuggah are also holding a poll in which fans can help the band decide what their set list will include by voting for one song from each album in their catalog.
The tour will hit NYC on 6/21 at Best Buy Theater. Tickets for that show haven't gone on sale yet, but keep an eye out. In the meantime, enjoy a live video (of mosh action, natch) from Meshuggah's last NYC appearance and check out the full set of dates below...

Disney's Maleficent - "Dream" Trailer

Megsakimbo says...

I think I might like this film. Stories will always be retold and that has always been the way in entertainment. Think about it before movies it would be theatre. How many times do you think Hamlet has been performed since it was written?

I was watching this and thinking...wow the audience at the Apollo Theatre sure has changed. Never knew there was an Apollo theater (actual name is Hammersmith Apollo) in west London.

Girl sings for her deaf parents

Ajkiwi says...

One cool thing about sign language is that all the "voice expression" has to be performed physically - your facial expressions ARE your emphasis, humor, sarcasm, etc. Kids who speak sign language are uninhibited, AND required to be really physical - if you EVER get a chance, go to some deaf theatre or a deaf speech competition at some point. They're AMAZING.

Lars Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac' - Trailer

Shepppard says...

Before we get the authorities involved in this, may I ask why you seem to be an expert on 12 year olds vaginas?

In serious, though, apparently this trailer was shown to an entire movie theatre of kids in Florida, who were waiting to see the new disney movie "Frozen".

Best comment about it was a parent saying "It seemed like forever when you're trying to, you know, cover a little guy's eyes," one parent said. "I didn't have enough hands to cover his ears too and he got the sound down real good."

Honest Trailers - Man of Steel

budzos says...

Fuck off haters. Saw this movie twice in theatres and loved it. Saw it for third time yesterday on blu-ray and LOVED IT. I say this as a guy with more than one full comics box devoted entirely to Superman.

I wonder how much money this will make. I'm curious because everyone super religious always denounces all the media people etc etc so how many of them will be drawn to the theatres? Is this another Passion?

Apple Creating Technology To Help Cops Hide Police Brutality

shatterdrose says...

Yeah, if technology was designed to disable video capture so the police could domestically take liberties without any verification of their actions, I can see this being a major blow to civil liberties and social accountability.

If however, this is just a "movie theatres want this" type thing, then there's no real hype. Plus, the attempt to disable one feature in one brand in a phone, such as the iPhone, would do nothing at all to protect the corrupt officers. It just means no one will buy an iPhone.

But, this is also hype over a patent. No actual device has been made with this. And just because it is possible, doesn't mean someone is doing it. I mean, it IS possible for us to build a space ship to harvest asteroids or space elevators . . . but alas, we are sadly Earth bound for the time being.

If anything, this discussion is what leads to this technology not being implemented, but the irate and irrational discussion does nothing but hype fear that has no rational basis. Except, you know, the NSA really is wiretapping this. . . .

newtboy said:

As I understood it, that technology stops cell phone use (as a phone or text device), not the other functions of your phone. That would make this something new (at least to me) in that it's something embedded in the device that allows others to disable all features based on a GPS 'area', so there's no device involved that blocks the signal (meaning it might fly in Canada because it doesn't interfere with airwaves or (perhaps) cell interruption (I can't tell if this will disable the 'phone' part of the phone or not).
What they were working on for movie theaters and the like actually blocked the signal, not the phone itself, with a separate device installed in the area they want to be a dead zone. It would not have interfered with taking video.
Agreed though, TYT is well known for getting irate over year old stories.
This sounds like a perfect reason to not buy Apple.
