Honest Government Ad For Proposed Australian Coal Mine

Well, at least you all down under can be assured and comforted that once the US is finished with Wounded Knee, ummm, I mean Standing Rock, Trump'll send over the combat-hardened police veterans to mop up your indigenous terrorists too!

The fight over the Dakota Access Pipeline, explained

bobr3940 says...

Every story I see on this situation covers the emotional hot topics of they might endanger the tribes water supply, they might be trampling on sacred burial sites, they aren't being nice to the protestors.

So what are the facts? How was the company handling the concerns of the many people affected by the pipeline not just this one tribe. I have seen only one story that covered this and I have to say that it appears that the company has tried to work with them. https://www.facebook.com/notes/scott-gates/on-the-standing-rock-tribes-dakota-pipeline-protest-/10154529600627457

I would love to see a story from the tribe perspective that shows. something that goes something like this. "we contacted the company on these dates and expressed out concerns over these topics (see attached letters, forms, online entries etc) we have not heard back or did not like their response (see attached responses). We worked with them and offered X alternatives... etc"

If I could see a fact filled version of their story that matches the one I linked above I would be more inclined to fully back them.

I was mostly wanting to point out that there was perhaps a touch of bias in the original description.

You are right about it being privately owned land involved. However, the construction and the original encampment and protests were all taking place on land that was privately owned:
Protesters have set up teepee and tent camps on land owned by Energy Transfer Partners to slow the progress of construction and have threatened to block the highway.

http://time.com/4548566/dakota-access-pipeline-standing-rock-sioux/

Since then the camps I understood have been moved off and the highway is now being blocked by the authorities to keep the trespassers from returning, but any references to the basic facts on that if I've got them wrong are welcome.

I'm not especially upset about illegal trespassing and obstruction of the construction to make a point and to protest that the law is wrong and all that. I am particularly bothered though when people begin to feel the case isn't strong enough and start lying about some of the parts that might cause people to question their methods.

interesting how you classify the protesters as angry mob and rioters.

see,
this all on tribal land, owned by native americans, who welcomed this "angry mob" and "rioters" and the police are there NOT at the behest of the tribal elders, but DAPL,a private corporation attempting to push a private pipeline, for private profit, through privately owned land.

DAPL had even hired private mercenaries to keep the landowners off their construction site, who used attack dogs, mace, rubber bullets and worked alongside the police.it got so bad at one point that they had pulled police officers from FIVE states to keep those pesky landowner rabble down!

on a good note, those ancillary officer teams bowed out after a few days, saying that it was immoral and they were unwilling to participate.so the "police" you are referring to are most likely private security.

Funny how the perspective you tell the story from changes it entirely even while keeping to the overall same facts.....and then add some context.

Aftermath November 2016

Payback says...

Boston Tea Party.
The Berkeley Protests.
Tommie Smith and John Carlos.
Occupy Wall Street.
Standing Rock.

Americans seem to have no trouble "shitting in their beds" when all other responses are impossible or will have only token effect.

Voters for Trump don't want positive change in the current system, they want to fight back, burn it down and start over.

But shitting in your bed is still an asinine thing to do, and I'll call a spade a fucking shovel every time.
