Cooking Channel Contest (Food Talk Post)
Recipe #1
Dystopianfuturetoday:
EGGDILLA
-2 Corn Tortillas (get good tortillas from a mexican market)
-1 Egg
-Oil (I used olive oil, but veggie or canola should work fine)
-Pepper Jack Cheese (Use other types of cheese if you like)
-Cajun Seasoning - I used “Slap Ya Mama” seasoning - which is a mix of salt, red pepper, white pepper and garlic. Improvise if you need to.
-Mayo - You can leave this out if you are trying to be healthy
-Gochugang Sauce - This is a mix of pepper paste, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce and honey. Mix to taste, put it in a squeeze bottle in the fridge and it will taste delicious on just about anything. Formal recipe here: http://www.luluz.net/articles/eat/gochujang-sauce-for-bibimbap/

Wow, I think YOU need to give me recipes. I've been eating so simply. Roasted brussel sprouts with salt, pepper and olive oil is my favorite. Pillsbury crescent rolls are vegan, so I make little pizzas out of them on the fly or roll them up with sesame seeds and crumbled seaweed. I haven't gotten fancy with it, yet. I'm eating a lot of food, though. More than I ever ate with animal byproducts in the mix.
Seriously, send me recipes!
Crazy, I just started my vegan diet today as well. I am excited, I had stuffed grape leaves (rice, onion, dillweed, and mint in a nice lemony sunflower oil) for breakfast I know that is weird but I really wanted em. Then for lunch: paradise island tempeh (orange juice, agave, ginger, coconut, lime juice, cilantro, cashews, pineapple, green onion, a minuscule amount of jalapenos mixed in rice... it was goooood) and a side of mixed broccoli, water chestnuts, snappy green peas and ginger. Then dinner was just a carrot and shitloads of dates. I have a feeling dates are going to be a major reoccurring theme YUM
You should get some dates, they help with DOODOOO and they taste like little caramel treats!! And they are good for you, I cant even believe it! Why have they hid from me for so long?!!
You gotta send me recipes!!!
Sesame Street: Sesame Street Gets Through a Storm
Kermit must be the Anderson Cooper of Sesame Street News, huh?
Romney goes for Mr Big, glutton of greed
I've got to agree with PBS on this. If it is frivolous for Romney to focus on Big Bird, isn't it just as frivolous for Obama to focus on Romney focusing on Big Bird? I also don't like that the commercial does not explicitly defend public television, it just uses it as a prop. Sesame Street is noble institution that shouldn't be dragged through the mud of politics.

Oops! PBS has asked Obama to pull this ad. Watch while you can!
Privatization turned The Learning Channel into Honey-Boo-Boo (Politics Talk Post)
wasnt there a provision for those who sought to utilize public airwaves that they had to have so much "educational" programming in order to gain and/or retain their broadcasting license?
and isnt PBS only 40% tax-payer backed? i forgot where i read that PBS was ran on 60% donations.that the taxpayers filled in the gap/loss which averaged a 60/40 ratio.
either way you slice it,what we are seeing is political hay and nothing more.making the argument that PBS is some socialists wet dream is just bullshit.i wonder if the irony is lost on these people who wish to shut down an institution to replace it with mind-numbing,vapid staleness.creating a zombified drooling public.
or is that the actual intent? to dumb down the american public?
i would like to subscribe to that conspiracy but these retards cant get out of their own way, nevermind concoct such an elaborate scheme such as i am suggesting.
so all for the sake of political whoring we may lose an institution that has brought some of the best and ground-breaking educational programming since the mid 60's.
and the collective IQ of this country drops.
sad...
so very very sad.
sesame street came out the year i was born.i learned how to read before i hit kindergarten because of that show AND it was one of many shows that got my craving to absorb information and learn.
but i guess "future strippers of america" is more important.
bollocks......
SNL: Big Bird Visits Weekend Update
Form 990 Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax
Line 12: Total revenue does state $130.606,413
But that is before expenses - You forgot to read line 18
Line 18: Total Expenses states $129,997,556
A difference of $608,857 which would be their profit for the 2009 calendar/tax year beginning July 1, 2009 and ending June 30, 2010
>> ^lantern53:
Sesame Street earns $140 million a year, but somehow they get 10% of that from the American taxpayer when they could easily make it and make it quite well, on their own.
Those folks are all 1%ers, aren't they?
