Barbie | Teaser Trailer

moonsammy says...

I'd totally forgotten about that one, but definitely saw it attached to something at the time. Of course in retrospect Phantom Menace would NOT be the #1 movie from 1999 to have watched, and neither it or Austin Powers 2 would even be in my top 5. We had Matrix, South Park, American Beauty, Fight Club, Sixth Sense, Iron Giant, Being John Malkovitch, The Mummy, Ghost Dog... so many good movies that year!

Yep. The teaser might not even be in the movie too. I remember when Austin Powers 2's trailer was funny with its Star Wars spoof as shown in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vRrZiMQl4k. That was such a teaser!

Honest Trailers - Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones

Payback says...

He's one of those actors that need a good director and script. If his first big break was with Whedon and not Lucas, he'd have an Oscar or Golden Globe or something by now. At least an MTV award...

At least Portman got out from under the shadow. That's a good thing.

Now that I think about it, wasn't Anakin supposed to be 14 or 15 in Clones? He was what, 6 in Phantom Menace? Playing it like a mewling child just might be correct. He was just too obviously older.

I sometimes wonder if maybe Hayden Christensen would have turned out to be a great actor if it weren't for his first major role being directed by George Lucas.

Okay, maybe not, but I do feel for the guy because it clearly is the directing that ruined his character.

And jesus, that pregnancy scene (7) was a prime example of just how utterly terrible some of the acting was.

A Sneak Peek at Disney's upcoming "Star Wars" Movies

Did everyone forget that Disney also did the avengers movie (which was awesome) and own pixar too. They cannot do a worse job than Lucas did on phantom menace and they might actually use fans of the franchise to direct and write for it. It MIGHT be good

I think the "it MIGHT be good" mentality is why we continued to watch the prequels in the first place.

101 Great Movie Villains

9547bis says...

3:40 with the kids shooting guns --> City of God
4:54 with the shotgun --> Funny Games
5:17 the Asian gentleman yelling --> No idea!

Also:
* Darth blah blah from Phantom Menace a "great villain"? Seriously?
* As a side note, this is a very American-centric (and yoof-centric) selection. How about some Hong Kong or Japanese super-villains? for that matter, where are the early, and I would say iconic super-villains like "M" and Doctor Mabuse?

I had fun hanging out with my friends and strangers in line than watching the movie!

I had a friend wait out for me...than I walked up to the line and grabbed the ticket. And I enjoyed the film cause I was in high school...and I didn't have to wait in line or pay. People are stupid and when you know a stupid person it's your job to exploit them constantly.
