The prof was partially to blame here. After she lets go he's only looking at the audience. He should have been watching the person at risk of being smacked in the face, to make sure they didn't step forward. Worthwords is correct though - a wall behind the head would make a lot more sense, at least when science noobs are doing it.

Turns out it is ME who is the noob.

I thought noob meant new person. That's all. A new person to the Sift. A very kind individual has told me that noob means new person who fucks things up because they don't know what they are doing.

So I am the noob. The fuck up.

I hope the sock puppet comment isn't insulting, too. There are a lot of sock puppets on the Sift, a history of them. I am still learning how to deal with sock puppets -- my initial reaction is to feel like I am being badly used. I am trying to get over that feeling.

Anyway. Yeah. I'm just trying to be friendly to someone who has engaged with me, and to engage intellectually other than in dueling comments. (That is what I call the back and forth of comment streams -- dueling monologues.)

Oh well. First make a backup (by making a dupe, as I can't backup yet) and then setting * dead, I guess.. @Fusionaut - you'd better fix this without a certain noob (me) spamming this sift with more failed rescue attempts.

Off-topic - when are people going to stop using the dumbass interference screen as a transition. Everything is digital now, when was the last time you changed the channel and had a blank channel with interference noise in between? That test pattern is almost as dumb. Why not go for the trifecta and use the video countdown clip from 10 to 1 that every video noob uses to look "authentic".

Agreed, this guys attitude is terrible.
Fact is, boxers generally ARE difficult to deal with. They're generally fit, and more importantly they can usually take a hit far better than a lot of other martial artists.

Which is why humility is important. Even in a dojo, you don't necessarily know the life experience of your opponent. They might have just walked in the door and be a complete noob in your art, but they may have also trained for years in another discipline. Courtesy and respect go a long way.

We've got some guys here in Japan that do this. They usually come every year to the Scottish Highland Games festival in Chiba and they'll even let you put on the gear and try it out yourself (though for the noobs they use padded wooded weapons rather than metal for obvious reasons). I'll admit though the guys in this video are way better and a bit more... overzealous than the guys we usually see here.

I don't see how @speechless is making trouble. You are not supposed to put videos in channels based on what you think that channel is about. Channel descriptions exist for a reason. I think it's a fine noob mistake not to pay attention to the channel descriptions but @ant has been here a long time.
