LAKE ICE II - the aftermath

Runaway Snowmobile after a trick jump gone wrong

Sagemind says...

@kymbos @Fletch @pavel_one

Jackson Strong is an extreme Motocross rider, and a dam good one but he is not a rider of sleds.
Within a week after winning gold in LA, he decided he would try his luck at XGames Aspen. He went out and bought himself a snowmobile just for the event, flew to Minnesota and trained for four hours before arriving to compete. His plan was to pull the same trick he did on his motocross, (called the Jack), only this time on the sled to see if he could pull another gold metal win without even putting in the time to properly train.

Watch this report which happened live at the event: http://videosift.com/video/Jackson-Strong-Crashes-on-his-first-run

"Jackson Strong is great at doing tricks in motocross, but his snowmobile skills need work. Strong only had four hours of experience on a sled, but decided to enter the best trick competition at the Winter X Games anyways. What happened next really needs to be seen to be believed.
I really think that Strong should have thought more about doing this. He is lucky someone did not get seriously hurt because of this stunt. Luckily everyone was paying attention and they were able to bail out of the way before the sled could have done a lot of damage."

There is no way he qualified for an X-Games event with only four hours on a snowmobile. Possible he only had four hours on this particular snowmobile, but I think the report you saw had bad info or just wasn't very clearly stating what info they did have.

20 States File Petitions To Secede From USA

chingalera says...

So many ways to mince up the map in the US to accommodate everyone. Hell, the west coast is already hemp-friendly and lush, freaks can live in Washorefornia.

Assholes, criminals, politicians-types can have Illinois,Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, and they can all live without guns, drugs, or a fucking clue.

Lesseeee, what new regime runs the east coast from Rhode Island to D.C. because no one south of the Carolinas wants anything to do with them northerners...

Folks from the E.U. can handle the idea..You can fit 5-11 tidy little nations within North America. Dial-in your way of life, restrict travel for assholes and douches between countries only(establish universal test for asshole/douche/shitbag, etc).

Election predictions? (Election Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

Inside election trivia, David Axelrod has won his moustache bet with Joe Scarborough. Obama has now carried all of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Playing with an EV calculator, even if I give Romney all of Florida, Ohio, North Carolina AND Virginia, he still needs another state to get to 270. If Obama wins ANY of those states, he's getting a second term.

Oh, and I get the feeling the networks are just playing it safe on Ohio, all the outstanding votes are in blue counties, and Obama's in the lead.

Ron Paul's Maine delegates protest RNC

Fairbs says...

Not sure if I'm doing this right, but this is in response to truth-i-t-n...

There are serious allegations in a number of states that Romney used illegal tactics to manipulate the results during the GOP primaries. Do a search on youtube. Some of the states were Maine, Minnesota, OH, and OR. Also the GOP changed the rules right before the convention so that a states delegates couldn't vote against the primary outcome even as a protest. So if you felt that the primary was stolen and your role as a delegate was usurped, I'd imagine you'd be pretty upset.

In reply to this comment by truth-is-the-nemesis:
I am seriously having difficulty understanding the logic of the Ron Paul supporters, they knew that Paul was not speaking, they knew that Romney was the candidate for the republican party & they also know that Paul did not agree to the terms of speaking & not choosing to opt for a third-party run. So, it seems like they just wanted to rant and rave at how corrupt the system is because THEIR guy didn't win.

Think the media is biased?

try again bob, it's been reported, and he stepped down of his own accord. I know your reading and writing skills aren't above average, but please do put some effort into it if you're going to put forth your own biases as reality. If you're going to have a bias, make sure it's backed up with fact.

The three dissenters against HR 347 were Rep.Paul Broun R-Georgia, Rep. Justin Amash R-Michigan and Rep. Keith Ellison D-Minnesota.

Ron Paul voted nay against the original bill and abstained for the bill that passed - not sure why but maybe he was absent?

Sh!t New Yorkers say

direpickle says...

"You know, we're just better than people that don't live in The City." -- That's the most common one from New Yorkers that I know.

Oh, oh. And "Minnesota/Ohio/Wisconsin/Iowa/Kentucky/Indiana/Louisiana/Tennessee/Kansas/Idaho/Missouri? Is that near Chicago?"

MrConrads says...

Actually there are a lot of people that aren't "white" in Minnesota... well the Twin Cities area at least. If I'm not mistaken it has the largest population of Somali immigrants in the country. There's also a large Hmong and Hispanic community, as well as a large African American population. That said there's a lot of Scandinavians and Germans too.

As for the Carlson School of Mgmt... I can't stand that place. It's a school for taking spoiled little children that haven't worked a day in their lives and trains them to be the next generation of middle management, or worse, executives. Luckily the building is surrounded by the Arts Quarter, so at least they're outnumbered during their brief tenure at the U.

Hey here's a question... are there any black people in Minnesota? If there are, apparently none of them go to this school.
