Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Hacked Since Day 1

PostalBlowfish says...

>> ^deathcow:
can someone point out some of the hacks and the times of them

You're not really meant to be carrying around 50 caliber sniper rifles and using them as from-the-hip assault rifles, and those weapons don't perform that way. Toward the end for sure, he's using various snipers and their rate of fire is obviously enhanced. Look for the distinctive hammerhead at the front of the barrel and the folded up bipod, you can see it pretty easily. You can also tell from the exaggerated recoil of each shot. To the victims watching their killcam, this would have been maddeningly obvious.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Hacked Since Day 1

Throbbin says...

So that's what a wallhack looks like.

I always stick to the same 2 or 3 servers for COD4, all with strict Punkbuster and immediate IP ban for cheaters, so I never really saw what it looked like. It's so maddening! AAARRGGGHHH!

Great sift. Maybe I'll pick it up in a month when some of the kinks have been ironed out.

Bill O'Reilly Respods to Jon Stewart's TDS critizism of FOX

Sketch says...

Upvote for Bill actually presenting a reasonable, fairly well countered argument this once. Of course, Stewart, in fact, has criticized Obama, and is unafraid to do so, and the hypocrisy of Bill complaining about Jon not presenting "an accurate picture of the country on his program," is at once hilarious and maddening.

I'm interested in this. Blank, is there a link to some original blog or sift talk where you talk about the project so I can catch up?
I never work 1:1 in editing, even though I would love to. Its always so maddening to know you are not working with what you REALLY have, quality-wise. Anyhow... good luck.

Sorry, griefer, forgot to reply to this one. Even when you work 1:1 in Avid, if you're using HD it really cannot visually reproduce the quality. You have to wait to see it on something that can properly reproduce the quality. For an HD deck, it takes a lot of power to play back 60 frames at high res, and my Avid system isn't strong enough to do that so it reduces the image.

We did have a blog and a site for a while, but recently we changed the movie title so all that changed.

Lucky displays his mad Tower Defense skills

arvana says...

That game maddened me for weeks until I decided that I just wasn't willing to invest the additional time to get a top score. I think my best was in the 7400s -- at least I managed to survive the Hard level (barely) so I don't feel too disgraced.

Way to go Lucky for kickin' it hard!

Wireless Electricity - Plugs are for losers

blankfist says...

Well, it's about time. I've been wishing for wireless electricity every time I go behind my 'entertainment center' and have to figure out what goes to what. Wires are maddening.

For you haters, this is just the beginning of the technology. Eventually this will be perfected and we'll all be singing its praises.

Don't ban this member! It's my grandma-ma. She doesn't know what she's saying! She thinks she's still 29 and all she ever does is copy-paste ads from her internet shopping sprees. She can't help it. She lives in some twisted, anachronistic past akin to Norma Desmond.

I ask, "Grandma-ma, why do you keep buying all this replica Tiffanys crap?" And she replies, "Dahling, it's to impress the suitors." But, grandma-ma," I says, "There are no more suitors."

To which she starts babbling about her fair Ulysses being gone so long that she became a dried up, crustacean of a woman -- her only lucid moment, despite it being entrenched in epic poetic nonsense. Honestly, though, I wish I could remember half the things she utters. It's quite mad, really -- and by mad, I mean, maddeningly hilarious -- in an endearing sort of way.

I wish you all knew how unrepresentative of herself her past 3 comments have been. Really, I just adore the woman. I adore her so much, sometimes I wear a wig fashioned after her own liceless head of hair. And I like to carry around a knife when I do this -- because when I was young, she loved cooking. I'd help her chop up onions and celery to serve the guests at the motel she runs -- sorry, ran. Since descending into her strange state, she hasn't had time to run things, so I do all that now. I'm what you call a real handy man -- fixing the televisions, talking to our vulnerable, feminine guests, and cleaning the pools...

oh yes, always, always cleaning the pools.

Obama: "N Korea Broke The Rules" - Iran Has a Choice To Make

Yeah! Authority sucks! F U Obama! Hey guys, screw this guy. Let's go put on some black eye shadow and write poems about how our souls are stinging from the eternal dread of the maddening slumber of the great oppressive overseer.

Generation M: Misogyny in Media & Culture

peggedbea says...

^ this is actually the trailer for an entire documentary. i agree that first bit SEEMS a tad self-serving, but im gonna reserve judgement until i see the whole film.

also, the problem with having 1 causes is that, as you seem to be pointing out EVERYTHING is connected. i cant care about the exploitation of women in this country, without also being concerned about the exploitation of the children in another, then i must also be concerned with poverty, and then comes the environment, and then i cant eat meat because it both destroys the environment and exploits animals and poor people. i cant use any products that may have at some point been tested on animals and i spin myself around in a circle until i can not function in the world i was created in because every one of my actions has negative impacts on someone elses world. ive been in this place before. its maddening.

i dont know what the solution is. but this is one thing that i care about. and this is one thing that someone is trying doing about it (speaking up, striking the conversation, inspiring debate). and i will appreciate it.

Favorite Games of 2008 (Videogames Talk Post)

JAPR says...

1. Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village (DS) - One of the most intriguing, fun games I've ever played. The music, voices, and puzzles were all maddeningly addictive, everything about the game was well-done, and I frequently found myself playing it until 5 in the morning because I simply couldn't put it down. I would argue that this game is far better than GTAIV any day of the week.

2. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (DS) - Another game that forced me into near-all-nighters with its addictive gameplay and fantastic music. I know the premise of a game where you try to win trials as a defense attorney sounds pretty stupid, but this is actually not just one of the best games of 2008, in my personal opinion, but probably among the top 5 games ever made for a hand-held system.

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - It's Smash Bros., what more can I say? Pikachu got made more useful again, and he's always been my favorite character. It's sad to see how much Link has been nerfed from game to game, as he was also pretty good in the first one, but that's just how it goes, I guess.

4. Gears of War 2 (XBox) - I actually played this before playing Gears 1. The unusual controls were a little hard to get the hang of at first, but there were a lot of really cool things about the game, and the storyline was actually kind of interesting, though I feel like a lot of it was chopped out or something.

5. Chrono Trigger (DS) - Yes, i'ts a re-release, but it's my favorite game of all time, so I'm more than willing to overlook it. Plus, I got the Japanese release, and you can play it in either English or Japanese...how badass is that?

I play my DS a lot.
