Free Guy | Official Trailer

wraith says...

Stream of conciousness;

Oh another Superhero Movie ..... oh wait .... THIS does look different ... and even more boring!

It feels like 1/10 the Dark Knight, 1/5 Deapool, 1/1 Wreck It Ralph and 12/3 Ready Player One thrown together. And yeah I know that it is basically just a movie about GTA/Saint's Row.

Man I can't even remember when a trailer really really made me want to NOT watch a movie, like this one.

This trailer gives me the feeling that someone thought that every, run of the mill superhero/videogame-movie will get edgy if it stars Ryan Reynolds. This shows me two things: Hoolywood is stupd (who would have thought) and Ryan Reynolds was succesful in making you all forget Green Lantern. ;-)

The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) Restricted Teaser Trailer

newtboy jokingly says...

I was thinking more Agent 47 and Adam Baldwin until the music started.
Now I'm thinking it should have been called Green Lantern and The Mother Fucker.
Looked pretty terrible to me.

I'm going to be disappointed if this isn't about Kevin Costner's unprofessional fling with Agent 47.

Batman vs. Darth Vader

gorillaman says...

Maybe the first time I've been happy to receive a downvote. A suitably and if I may say so, attractively, nerdy analysis.

I don't know, the Batman I know might just have been arrogant enough to try something like this - he did once fistfight a bunch of white martians. Or this could be the fight as it plays out in his head while he's deciding he needs a better plan, if you've read Midnighter you know what I'm talking about.

I always thought the dark side was unreasonably maligned. That old Batman as a green lantern story was a disappointment; I now want to read a book about Batman growing up in the Star Wars universe...learning about the force...deciding the Sith had to be dealt with...

Cool video. But, as a Batman fan I downvote this on principle alone...

R.I.P.D. - Official Trailer

MichaelL says...

This is so derivative. How did they pitch this?
"Okay, it's Rooster Cogburn meets Agent J... except that instead of Will Smith we got that white dude from Green Lantern. And Jeff Bridges gets to keep both eyeballs.
Also they fight dead people instead.
Plus we can totally re-use that MIB Headquarters set to keep costs down."

And, yes, I'll probably go see it, just for Jeff Bridges.

THOR-deleted scenes

tell me...how do you have plausible character development for Thor and Loki, a couple of demi gods.
when you take into consideration this is a comic book movie...and on top of it, the only reason the movie existed was to introduce Thor for the later Avengers movie...I thought they did pretty good.

thats why i used the word tepid.
it was ok.pretty god is fine as well.
i disagree with the dismissal of character development.i was a huge thor fan when i was a kid and there is a ton of back story concerning loki and thor (along with massive amounts of lore) but the movie really didnt touch on those things.not in any substanstive way to relay their complicated brother relationship.in my opinion anyways.

thank god joss whedon went in a different direction and portrayed thor much closer to the comic books (even his gleeful physical bouts with the hulk).

i mean think about it.while nolan has done a fantastic job with batman.singer dropped the ball with superman and green lantern was an abomination and due to those two last failures we may never see a justice league movie.

character development and plot wrapped in a tasty story is vital to a good movie.even if that movie happens to be based on super hero comic books.

The Death & Return of Superman

Just saved the day

The green lantern could have been good, and I kinda clung to the illusion it was.... up until the final battle - seriously wtf. The very organisation that aims to protect the universe somehow can't figure out that one guy by himself might need a bit of a hand defeating the most dangerous enemy evar!1??1

Fox not happy about a non-white Spiderman

longde says...

It's funny, I wasn't even thinking about the yellow-clad Green Lantern when I mentioned that character. I guess that shows how much I like Alan Scott. I was thinking more Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Raynor.

Makes you realize that in some ways, Peter Parker is an anomaly. Few major characters that old have had their alter egos left untouched by writers. The most extreme thing that comes close was that costume change in the 80s that fanboys went batshit over.

1. This character isn't even in the main continuity. What's the big freakin' deal?
2. @cito Second or third or fourth versions of a hero/villian happen all the time in comics, with another dude or woman inheriting the name and basic costume. E.g., Iron man, flash, batman, green lantern, batgirl, captain america, wonder woman, the list goes on---- hell, there were even 4 or 5 Supermen after they "killed" Superman in the 90s.
3. directed to noone in particular: You fuckin' fanboys who think that every damn major character has to be white, and that it's realistic that in the far future, most people are white, have got to start getting real.

No shit, I doubt if anyone is even alive that liked the original Green Lantern. This stuff is as old as comics.
