Hail Stanford, Hail! Invention of the Laser

Goofball_Jones says...

Thought it was invented at Bell Labs. Well, the Maser at least...

Also, the Wikipedia article about the Laser doesn't even have the word "Stanford".

Also, Gordon Gould is also widely credited as the inventor of the Laser. He's also the one that came up with the term "laser". Gould was from Columbia University. So again, where is Stanford coming into play here?

Columbia University was right to let him speak there, and the people who were against it should realize there can be no dialogue when only one side is heard.

Enzoblue brought up some good points - I'm curious to hear what Juan Cole has to say about it.

Regarding Hugo Chavez - maybe he's no angel, true, but he's a damned sight better than the crooks and liars they had in there before, the ones who are still there manipulating the media (like here in the USA), the rich who will never be rich enough and who want to privatize everything.

Would this be considered Blacksploitation?? Did the white producers of the show, think they were being progressive or clever.....or was this their way of coming out of their racial stero-typing closets??
Jack went to Columbia University. Jack sat and smoked crack.
Now jack spins smack for Hillary's pack.

What is AIPAC? The American Israeli Public Affairs Committee

I agree with you about Tony Judt, and I agree with you about the CAMERA article - it is largely propganda. However, although you may be critical of the Harvard study I don't see how you can call it propaganda - unless it is pro-democracy, pro-America, pro-justice propaganda.

Mark Mazower, a professor of history at Columbia University, wrote that it is not possible to openly debate the topic of the article: "What is striking is less the substance of their argument than the outraged reaction: to all intents and purposes, discussing the US-Israel special relationship still remains taboo in the US media mainstream. [...] Whatever one thinks of the merits of the piece itself, it would seem all but impossible to have a sensible public discussion in the US today about the country’s relationship with Israel."
