I hate hearing Hitch cough on this video, it's an awful portent.
I used to scour the net daily, looking for new articles/videos etc. from this great man who opened so many minds. Alas no more. I miss him already.
If Hitch was wrong, and there is a god, i hope he looks favourably upon a man who used the mind, given to him by that god, to its utmost.

True dat. Any God who turns away hitch and lets in Ratzinger and the peados can go fuck himself.

Christopher Hitchens - The Best of the Hitchslap - Part Two

geo321; What a great, great, post. It is a true tribute to Hitch, and i thank you for it.

Hitch was never, despite what his detractors claim, bested in ANY debate. How could he be, coming to each with logic, free thought, rationale, common sense and intellect? It is left to the three remaining horsemen of the apocalypse - Dennett, Dawkins and Harris- to continue Hitchs' legacy. I'm sure they are up to it but, alas, we may never see another Christopher Hitchens. I, for one, will NEVER forget him.

Another man in our times that matches his caliber?

Let me list a few that pop into my head:

Noam Chomsky
Carl Sagan
George Carlin
Stephen Jay Gould
Richard Dawkins
David Suzuki
Douglas Adams
Bill Hicks.

Granted, they all differ, but they certainly hold up in my eyes.

The same thing could have been said when Sagan passed, but others moved in to fill his shoes.

It's all good, we just have to keep an eye out for the new person who is waiting to have a go.

He will be so very sorely missed. I truly can not think of or name another man in our times that nearly matches his caliber.

It is a very sad day and our world is considerably diminished by his loss.
