DUI checkpoint refusal to search, arrest for DUI 0% BAC

dhdigital says...

here's an excellent video on how to make situation worse [by just watching less then 2 minutes into this video.] from me being a bartender [and dealing with this trash],

ME:you are a stupid fuck. YOU: it isn't right

at the end of the day at least I can go home [again].

it isn't PC, you press them, YOU MAKE IT WORSE. (this is how the real world works, you could help the people looking out for you, but being a stupid fuck you are making things worse.) Play games and be a dick like this guy. Because when I work and, by your actions, typically, I HAVE MY LIFE THREATEN. I hope to god he is there, because you will see him or I will die trying. Fuck this, white trash shit. Respect people-- there is so much more worth it.

This person deserves to everything he brought onto himself.

Fuck around, fuck around, you won't be around. There is right and dead right.

(Also noted i didn't hit the sarcasm in the fist post -- my mistake)

I think tito's is a fantastic vodka. It's from a (more or less) small distillery and is priced extremely reasonably!

but looking at the cost of killing of a brita filter vs just buying tito's -- just buy tito's. Well, unless you are going to filter A LOT of vodka.

I bartend and shaking a martini is something I generally don't do. Most places aren't fancy enough to use 0-day ingredients where it could make a difference. I find it like ordering a Margaretta with patron, then adding strawberry flavoring and blending it.... UGH!! Look at I can just charge you more if it makes you feel better. I like Seth, but expected more from him. Also thinking, shouldn't Bond be more of a gin drinker?

Respect the alcohol -- drink the alcohol!!

Please!??....An affordable potato vodkas' fine (Monopolva) - Tito's or Finlandia. for a step-up.

If you pour that cheap shit through a Britta charcoal filter about five passes it smooths it right out.

sadicious jokingly says...

Yes. Bartenders everywhere go out of their way to make their drinks worse, just so they have more tools to clean and maintain, and so the drink is watered down more with the water ("ice") that was already going to be in the drink. A popular preference over the original design can never be right.

Shaken martini's are poor, watered down excuses for martini's.
Chipped ice from the cubes during the shaking exposes more surface area of the ice, in turn melting occurs faster......and you get more water in your drink

Fastest Way to Tie a Tie EVER

dhdigital says...

Leaving a tie tied to loosen it, but then re-wear it tightens the knot. It stretches the fabric shrinks the knot size. It is not a very classy move. Buy a clip-on if you do not want to show some culture or pride. Also, you shouldn't wash or dry clean a tie. Ties are a one hit wonder.

I bartend. I have to display an illusion of a lie, but carry class during my steps of work.

Do it right or leave it at home.

Walmart on strike

@rottenseed
you make some good points buckaroo but your post is ignoring the giant pink elephant in the room.
@Sagemind 's most excellent post gave that elephant a nod but i think it prudent to point directly at that giant hulking pustulent piece of pink elephant flesh.

shall we?
1.corporate america is NOT based on true capitalism (actual free market) but rather state-run capitalism.this translates to lower or non-existent tax revenue, government subsidies and outright bailouts.
in other words=socialism.

2.you state that a corporation has a "duty" to maximize profits.i would agree if you changed "duty" to "legal obligation".

3.this legal obligation to maximize profits has led to all kinds of inventive and clever ways to defraud the public and local municipalities, from having them pay for infrastructure to waste clean-up.the amount of money spent by public,tax-payer funds is staggering which of course=socialism.

4.corporate america has a literal army of 35,000 lobbyists in washington whose sole purpose is to manipulate legislatures to pass favorable laws (de-regulation).85% of ALL laws passed are actually written by corporate lobbyists.

5.since the abomination ruling of citizens united (fuck you alito) corporate america now has the unlimited access to our lawmakers.walmart spent tens of millions on the last election cycle, how much did you give? and who do you think those legislators are going to be listening to?
money=speech in this country.

6.a corporation is considered a person but this person has no empathy, remorse nor feelings of solidarity with fellow humans due to its very nature written into law.
otherwise known as a sociopath.

seewhatimsaying?
the corporate charter needs to be re-examined and/or re-written because what we have now is corporate welfare/socialism with all the benefits going to the top while the working class foots the bill.

vote with your wallet? sure.that would work to a point but many people are limited concerning options and walmart is the only place these folks can afford.
sometimes this economic situation is due to bad choices but more often it is just life kicking these people in the balls.

buck up and go grab some higher education?
sure...and that works how often?
im not kidding.go check the statistics.they are pathetic.
i bartend part time and there are 4 masters degrees and 8 bachelors where i work, all in different fields.ask them how their "higher education" paid off for them.
$100,000 in student debt loans all to be able to ask "would you like some cracked pepper sir"?

now lets punch that pink elephant straight in the balls shall we?
the suggestion that somehow if labor becomes organized and demands..and receives..a more viable living wage with some humane and decent benefits will somehow automatically translate into higher priced goods and eventual job loss is just corporate propaganda which originates from the reagan years.

this is absolute and utter bullshit all fed to us by the very corporations seeking to dominate and oppress its work force.

remember,it is the legal obligation of the corporate board of directors to "maximize profit" not "shoot itself in the foot".
the suggestion that somehow paying its employees a living wage translates to the destruction of the company is apocalyptic propaganda.

what has been done to the american worker is perverse.over the past thirty years we have seen the creation of either wage-slaves or debt slaves..or both.
any way you wish to look at it.we are slaves in one form or another.

i mean..just go check the numbers.
worker pay has stagnated for the past thirty years, while corporate profits have continually broken records.
do you seriously think that a unionized labor force will kill walmart?
not a chance and to suggest otherwise just indicates that the corporate propaganda has been quite effective.

walmart could pay a living wage AND offer affordable benefits and STILL would have cheap goods.
and every step of the way they would be "maximizing profits".

welcome to the united states of corporate america!
will that be cash or credit?

probie says...

A drunk walks into an upscale pub and, after a while, leans up against the bar.
"A snifter of Louis XIII," he slurs and drops three $100 bills on the bar.
The bartender, taken aback for a moment, looks the disheveled man up and down.
"Big spender!" the bartender says, pouring his drink.
"Life is good," the drunk replies, and promptly tosses back the cognac.
The bartender takes a second look at the man; his hair is a mess and his suit hasn't seen a dry cleaner in a while, and he swears the man smells faintly of urine. Hardly someone who can afford such a fine cognac.
"Inheritance?" the bartender presses.
The man looks up.
"No, no...I bet people. And I always win," the drunk smirks.
"What do you mean always?" the bartender asks.
The drunk takes a moment and looks around the bar.
"Here. You see that glass over there?" He points to a an empty mug of beer at the end of the bar, 20 feet away. "I'll bet you $100 I can piss in it from here."
Impossible! the bartender thinks. "You're on," the bartender says, shaking the drunk's hand (and quickly wiping it off on his apron).
Unsteadily, the drunk climbs up on top of the bar, pulls his dick out and begins peeing everywhere. He stumbles and steps in his own piss, causing him to slip and he plummets off the bar. The bartender looks over the railing and sees the man lying flat on his back, hands flailing, as his piss arcs up into the air and hits him directly in the face. The bartender erupts with laughter at the comical sight, slapping his hand on the bar in triumph.
Suddenly, across the room, a man shouts in anger and rushes the bar. "Are you fucking kidding me?!" he screams.
Surprised, the bartender says "What?! What?"
The angry man points down at the drunk and yells, "He just bet me a thousand dollars that he could piss all over your bar and you'd laugh about it!"

How to Ruin a Wedding Day

poolcleaner says...

Your entire life is a lie. Your mom lied, your dad lied, and now your damn daughter is lying to everyone on your wedding day. While your lying wife and her lying lover lay in wait to move in and become the new lying couple.

You go to a bar and the lying bartender slips you a mickey. Now the lying police say you killed a man with your lying fists, covered with lying scabs. There are forged cellphone videos made by lying bystanders who put the video into lying Photoshop. So you go to jail, where no one lies to you any more: YOU'RE FUCKED.

Now you get of jail and your lying family doesn't want to talk to you (because they're liars) and a lying song tells you it's easy to kill yourself. But you can't do it, because it isn't easy, just like it wasn't easy for (a man) to get pregnant from prison rape. And now your lying doctor is saying you have full blown AIDS. But he's a liar.

It's your fake deathbed and the lying nurse lies to you about having no visitors. It's all a conspiracy and the internet lies to you while you're looking up supporting evidence for the conspiracy. Message boards filled with liars, just lying their butts out to you about you're a lying troll. And you die and lying God says you believed in lies so you're bound for hell and there are no more lies EVER.

What is the point of the down vote system? (Blog Entry by ZappaDanMan)

enoch says...

@VoodooV
while i totally agree that one cannot discern the intent of the person who cast the downvote,i feel @shinyblurry makes a valid point concerning his own experiences.
while circumstantial,18 scrubbed videos is not a normal,nor average,number.

i think i could make a case that those scrubbed videos (due to downvotes) directly correlate to a time on the sift when many were viewing shiny's comments and posts as trollish and confrontational.
and lets be honest...sometimes they were.

but there were a few posts of shiny's that were genuinely of good quality and thought-provoking and they too..were scrubbed.i even promoted a few even though i totally disagreed with the content.

which ties in to the point in which @ZappaDanMan is trying to make.some people vote more on how they feel about the person rather than the content of the video.he also alludes to a cult of personality and its a valid observation.

so while i agree with you that we cannot discern intent and i also agree with shiny that downvotes are more an irrational, emotional response, rather than a logical and thought-out vote but at the end of the day it does not matter.
why?
because they are votes and we all tend to vote with our hearts rather than our heads.

here is a small observation i have made over the years here on the sift.
totally non-scientific.just an observation:
ever notice when somebody posts a horrid,or venomous comment?
and it will have ZERO votes.neither UP nor DOWN.
until it receives ONE downvote and then what seems like minutes the downvotes start coming.like a torrent.

the same will happen with videos.
there is a reason for that.

speaking only for myself i rarely downvote a video and choose to abstain rather than downvote but i will downvote a comment if i find it offensive or un-necessarily attacking another sifter.(which i have been guilty of from time to time).

my videos have garnered more than their fair share of downvotes.
sometimes i understood why and othertimes i did not and i have never been shy in PMing that person to inquire why they downvoted and,to those peoples credit, they always responded.
that was very gracious of them to explain the thinking behind their downvote and i always appreciated the time they took to share their reasoning with me.

so in conclusion to my point (do i even have a point?).
even when we consider that some (or many) use downvoting as a passive-aggressive way to punish those they may deem unworthy or simply because they disagree.
the downvoting system is just as vital as the up-voting because it can promote discussion and interaction and that is always a good thing.
the positives far outweigh the negatives.

@shinyblurry is a perfect example of how interactions and attitudes can change on both sides of the spectrum.

if we do not interact with those we disagree with then we will be doomed to hold pre-conceptions and presumptions as inviolate and stagnate on our own hubris.

there are so many here on the sift that have surprised and delighted me by shattering my assumptions about them.
oftentimes it was the downvoting that sparked that interaction.

i think we all felt that sting that @Boise_Lib speaks of concerning our first downvote but if we can get past that initial slap in the face we can explore a whole new range of interaction and discussion in which we all can benefit and garner a much more dynamic understanding of people whom we may disagree with.

now that this rant has come to its conclusion i shall remind my gentle and kind readers that i shall be here all week and to not forget to tip their bartenders and waitresses.

thank you wisconsin!!
and good night!

Cocktail Machine

Fantastic X Factor Audition Song by Lucy Spraggan

Save yourself if you're choking and alone

dhdigital says...

i strongly recommend up voting this. When I first started bartending I had a customer choke on a philly sandwich. My response was "Are you choking?!"

He couldn't talk, but he nodded his head.

Instantly I came back with, "Are you SERIOUSLY choking NOW, HERE, in the BAR I'm WORKING at RIGHT NOW?!"

He nodded again, all I thought was "f"

The only thing that came to mind was my days as a boy scout. I did what I could and feverishly ran around the bar, performed the heimlich. He puked all over the place and I heard his lungs desperately sucking for air.

This video is so worth the up-vote. I had the cooks the and the waitresses just panicking, screaming, not helping. Please identify the problem and make the best choice available. Make good choices. I could have been wrong, but at least I tried.
