^ CONCERNING STRANGELETS:

First of all, strangelets are merely hypothetical type of matter. None have so far been observed or produced. We would see some corrution of Neutron stars more often if the stuff was actual and not theoretical. Lambda particles I think have happened, but they decay so fast it is not really a subject of much fear mongering

Secondly, the RHIC (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider) in the US has been working for 8 years now and no strangelets have been produced there. In comparison, LHC collisions will have more energy, thus making it even less probable a strangelet might form (equivalent would be ice forming in boiling water). In addition, LHC quarks will be even more dilute than at RHIC.

Read this study on RHIC by MIT, Yale and Princeton physicists to find out more.

"It is believed that the higher energy of the lead-lead collisions of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), compared to the RHIC, will produce more strange quarks in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) than are produced at RHIC's QGP. This higher production of strange quarks might allow for production of a strangelet at the LHC, and searches are planned for such upon commencement of collisions at the LHC ALICE detector."

"Angelis et al., "Model of Centauro and strangelet production in heavy ion collisions", Phys. Atom. Nucl. 67:396-405 (2004) arXiv:nucl-th/0301003 "

I thought that was an interesting read on the subject. It's all theoretical though, so far, we haven't really seen the stuff at all.

Sorry for the long gap between posts, the hurricane messed with my normal routine.

OMG THE HADRON COLLIDER IS TURNED ON!!!

Weezer - Pork and Beans (Count the Memes)

jmd says...

Charlie (candy mountain) and Evolution of dance are both in my list.

EDD,I saw the cubes but since nothing was actually being done with them, its hard to attribute it to any meme. In my mind, the most coolest thing ive seen done with rubiks cubes in the past years, are the amature made cube solvers made with webcams and basic robotics. As for the light sabers, the 2 nerd duelist are ryan vs dorkman. They made 2 videos consisting of light saber duals, reproducing some high level special effects like terrain impacts and sparks. Its possible to attribute the light saber effect on lot of other things in the videos due to the gauntlet of HOW TO videos on making your own light saber effects in movies.

Eric, nice catch. Never seen the video till now, but the mouse placement and the overexposure glow from the window as well as overall color is dead on.

uhohzombies, nice catch, although I didn't notice nearly as many memes in there. Its possible they are from different circles. Weezers is pretty much a years worth of 4chans /flash board condensed into a video. And of course both BNL and weezers song itself sucks.. so yea.. their trying tp ride hype trains that are not their own.

"Oncoming!!!" Crazy high guy in a stolen car

bC? Then Yay *Canada! OMFG, MASSIVE *comedy and MASSIVE upvote for the BNL - "If I had a million dollars" - what an appropriate song! If the crazy drug-induced screaming starting 2 minutes in doesn't qualify this freak for *eia, nothing does.

A shame they didn't just take him down in this truck. That'd be an amusing video too I think.

Insane how many vehicles he stole consecutively - some real life GTA action.

There is something so wrong about this trend. This is like the third of these group song videos I've seen from net-lebrities. It is so bizarre we have PR firms now hiring Numa Numa guys to do music vids for BNL.. Man that SWK really screwed up. He could be rich and famous by now.. milking his 5 mins like that sad, sad Numa Numa "I-reek-of-Subway-Jerrod-desperation' guy.

Barenaked Ladies - Lovers in a Dangerous Time

A cover of Bruce Cockburn's track. This was their first song to hit the top 40s in Canada - back in 1991.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barenaked_Ladies
"Barenaked Ladies (often abbreviated BNL or occasionally BnL) is a Canadian alternative rock band currently composed of Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, and formerly Andy Creeggan. It formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, at the time a suburb of Toronto. It is best known for its hit singles, "One Week", "Pinch Me", "If I Had $1000000", and "Brian Wilson", and for its light-hearted, comedic performance style. The band's trademark at live shows is humorous banter between songs, and improvised raps/songs, both of which are staples at almost every concert"
