Crazy?

In reply to this comment by raven:
I do! Especially big black crazy intelligent ones... why do you think I picked Raven in the very first place?

In reply to this comment by ant:
Hmmph, I thought you loved the birds.

'Raven' as been my avatar/nickname on the internet for many years now, I've also used a longer version, 'Raven Wilde' as an alias for some small art-related projects I've been involved in. My avatar is out of a Peterson field guide I've had since I was a kid.

We had another similar discussion about this some time ago, Avatar Stories and Favorites, some of the older members probably remember it.

ha, since I had a similar situation I'd call myself an advanced senior.
I found the same thing when I went back, that the kids right outta high school were too involved in their new found freedom to pay attention or care what was going on in class or realize the opportunites that they had in front of them. I specialized in media. they didn't realize that the equipment we had at our disposal would cost thousands of dollars a day to rent, so while they partied I shot a feature length film for next to no $$.

Oh, I'm like an extra-special-super-terrific senior . I'm still in undergrad but I'm doing two degrees and for several years in there I dropped out and traveled around a lot. In the end this was good because I'm a much more focused student now, but the downside is that I'm in class with a lot of dumb kids 5+ years younger than myself... it drains on me at times, which I guess is why I enjoy the sift so much, the quality of conversation is a little better than my average day at school.

good point about the "war on terror" channel. let me know when (or if) you do though as I'd be game.

what year are you in ?

In reply to this comment by raven:
Well, the 'War on Terror' Channel is less of a spirited romp of a good time, so I don't know how a contest would work... the HorrorShow was more of a party... with zombies. Also, until next summer, I am quiet busy with college classes and probably won't have time to run something like that for now.

In reply to this comment by qruel:
sounds like that great idea went over extemely well. do you plan on doing it again ?

In reply to this comment by raven:
Contests on the Sift rule! I'd be all for this. I ran a similar event this past summer, maybe you weren't around yet?

For two weeks, over at my old Channel, the HorrorShow, we had the Fortnight of Fright, during which willing participants slammed the sift with horrorshow sifts. The end results were pretty crazy with 145 videos sifted during the two weeks.

For a prize I gave away saves and promotes, which seemed to be able incentive. If you decide to run your own contest, count me in, I'll play along.

My parents loved to use the word "trash" for movies or television they disapproved of. They never forbade any television - no cable in our household. Movies that were rated "PG" took a lot of lobbying on our part - especially when they had to take us to them.

Sweet thanks. I've actually seen this btw, and have a funny story about it... it was on the SciFi channel one Saturday morning and I happened to be back home visiting my folks, and my Dad came in and saw my brother and I watching it so he sat down and asked, "So, what's this one about" "Evil ravens Dad" To which he asked, "A giant evil raven?" "No, just a bunch of them" "Oh, well never mind then", and he got up and left, thus implying that had it been about one giant raven, he would have been all about it, but multiple evil ravens just didn't cut it... must have something to do with his Cold War childhood, as, if I recall, his favorite all time horror movie is THEM!, about the giant radioactive ants... ah, parents are so funny.

In your honor, here's a horror trailer about "ravens!" It's called "Kaw."

Whaaaaat? I only laugh at how terrible it is! You're crazy!

In reply to this comment by raven:
Ah... Planet Unicorn! Heeeyyy..... see, now that, unbelievably, actually makes me laugh, unlike the puppet terrorist, which is just lame.

In reply to this comment by MarineGunrock:
I've been using it for a while, of course my membership is about as old as 3.0, too so I don't know. Either way, that along with Unicorn planet need to stop being sifted.

In reply to this comment by raven:
Hey, cool, good job getting this search all lined up, I wasn't aware we could search discarded vids now, must be a 3.0 thing.

In reply to this comment by MarineGunrock:
Hooray for attempt number eleven!

MINK says...

thanks for the comment anyway. i am not surprised it has been discarded before.

but is it a british humour thing maybe? i was surprised at the reaction from the audience, was it a family show or something? i think everything's fair game if you put some creativity into it. he didn't appear to be using the puppet as a proxy for his own racism, it's more like showing how stupid racism is and what it leads to.

am i being too soft about this?

In reply to this comment by raven:
ugh... I just can't bring myself to vote for this, sorry MINK.
