Calc III Final Results
Well my grades came in and all my hard work and half-assed sifting has finally paid off. I achieved both my goals of an A and the top grade in the class. I scored a 100.4% on my final after the curve which means the final was curved beyond what I scored. I'm glad I worked so hard on this class. I wish I had the ability to go to school full time, but with Gen going to nursing school I will be the main bread winner for at least another year. I'll continue to do 1 or 2 classes each semester until she's out. Then it's her turn to support me while I go full-bore into school...if I don't piss her off too much in the mean time.
Oh and I want you all to know that while I achieved my goals, my drinking never subsided. You can be an alcoholic and a success.

100.4? Is that like A+++?
Congrats.
Grats, what topics are you covering?
4th year maths/economics undergrad here.

Calc III was vector calculus. We dealt with a lot of calc in 3 dimensions: solids, surface areas, flux, gradients and planes. It was really just calc 1 and 2 projected into E3 . I commend anybody doing a math major. I want to do engineering so these math skills will be necessary but I'll probably stop pursuing math once discrete mathematics comes into play.
Fair enough, yeah I found it surprising how much more difficult it became when we started looking at PDEs. You'd think the step up from 2 to 3 dimensions would be relatively simple but no ...
Anyway, doing an advanced maths modelling unit at the moment with ODE/PDEs where we model stuff like the diffusion, advection and chemotaxis effects of a cell density in time and space. In fact I should be studying up on an exam for it right now
Hey Rottenseed Congratulations!
That some pretty severe stuff your doing (which I wont pretend to understand) you should be proud, especially if your working. I too am trying to work and do a degree and its kicking my little butt. Currently waiting to hear how badly I failed my physics class by... Repeats in August, fingers crossed!
Have a nice drinkie to celebrate!
