It's 10:35 PM on Christmas Eve - and I'm spent

Cooking, wrapping, rum-balls and dish washing. A couple glasses of champers and I'm ready for my long Christmas nap. BUT ... I've agreed to go to the midnight mass with my in-laws. I'm pretty sure they know I'm an atheist - but they want me there anyway. I might throw a shout out to St. Sagan from the pews. It's about 84 degrees here in Brsibane. That's not Christmas weather for me.

To be honeest Christmas gets less fun every year - the kids love it, but I just wind up tired and slightly durnk.

Anyway - I wanted to wish a merry christmas, Festivus, kwanza, solstice, chanukah and ramadan to all Sifters. February will be three years of VideoSift - sometime it feels like 3 months. Be well and love the ones you're with.

Merry times to you too.

Its been a rough go here too. Midnight mass, holy... I haven't been to one of them since I was 6 or so.

Every time I fell asleep, it was the only time in church I could fall asleep and no one would get mad at me.

It's now 2:15 AM - how long does it take to stuff a frickin' stocking. My buzz has well and truly worn off. My eyes are red from incense at the midnight mass. At least they had padded knealers.

it's noon on christmas eve here in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USofA, and i still have 2 presents to wrap and i'm ALTAR SERVING MASS for 6:00pm mass. i'm still a senior in high school, though, so excuse me for feeling a LITTLE excited for the big day tomorrow.

@ gwiz, the "X" in "x-mas" is actually meant to represent the cross and shorten the word and was not, in fact, an attempt to take the "christ" out of "christmas."

Your point being?

I suppose we could call it solstice, but Xmas / christmas is so ingrained that it's hard to squash. Might as well embrace the name, if not the underlying intent.

Plus it has an X, so it sounds science-fictiony.

gwiz, i think you misunderstood. you said X-mas like that was something that isn't actually christmas, it's just kind of a generic thing. in actuality, x-mas and christmas are the same thing.

I'm 8 hours away, but it's straight up - so almost the same time zone. It's 10 AM now - Santa came. I got a corn popper. Mainly I think because I make a huge mess in the kitchen by doing it the pan way.

ABBA featured heavily in kids' stockings- and I broke down and got Spore for everyone. I know it's been panned by critics - but it makes a pretty good kids' game. It was either that or Left 4 Dead - my partner thought it would be "inappropriate" for an 8 year old. jeesh.

So like a mom eh? Well I guess I'm a bad mom.. I let my boy play Call of Duty and Halo.

It's Pokemon, and various treats in the kids stockings here. My husband bought them poker cards!!! LOL.

I can't wait till the little boy opens his Roboraptor.. that looks like fun! He can battle Robosapian!

You see some apartments dressed up in lights and stars, a few places where there is a Bangladeshi Santa, a few families celebrate it because of mixed ethnic backgrounds... but nothing major most of it is punctuated by the massive end of year sales in everything from boots to next to ace hardware.
