In the navy, come on and join your fellow man!
Nah, just kidding, blankfist. This was a very interesting read and made me remember how glad I was to not be allowed into the army (we have mandatory military service over here).
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Great story. I was prepared for it to end with you hopping in a taxi to Bel-air.

Missed opportunity. I almost want to go back and change it now.
I don't understand this story. Were you... drafted? I didn't think there had been a draft in the States since Vietnam.
The military is not a place for people who have free minds and those that vote third party.
I have heard a story or two about an old friend that had a run in with a drill instructor.
The story was, my old friend knocked his teeth in, and was thoroughly discharged in two days.
^Well, that beats my story of telling my Captain to 'Fuck Off', though it didn't end with me being discharged.
Well, sounds like most kids...you just needed some discipline and needed to find your way in life.
I got out of the Navy in 1990.
Blankfist entered the Navy in 1991.
Coincidence?
And CaptainPlanet, have you ever served the country that you profess to love?
There's a LOT of ways to learn discipline besides the military. I was like blankfist: I hated military life. And no amount of "discipline" they tried to shove down our throats made us better sailors in any way. I ain't talking about the haircuts and the stupid goddamn saluting. They systematically try to crush creativity and critical thinking.
I understand the need for uniformity in military units, but not to the degree they push it. Heaven forbid, a sailor might dare to ask his superior, "Should we REALLY be firing Tomahawk missiles at a nation that has no WMDs and was not connected in any way to 9/11, sir?"

That pretty much explains why you had no business in the military.
^And guys like you are pretty much why the military still has Lt. Calleys in it to this day.
It that the best you can do? Liken me to a wacko? Son, I served my time, don't bother insulting me because of your failures in the service. Some belong, and others like you find out they didn't. Don't rehash the past anymore...
^Ouch! Lt. Planet has feelings!

Son, I was a Major. And I meant "don't rehash the past" for your sake, not mine.
^A "major" liar.
Bullshit... You are all cat farts and ass gravy!
