Greetings, and a provisional welcome to the sift.

I second the advice you've already received. Post videos, if people like them they will upvote. Don't post your own videos or you will be banned.

When I first started it took me a week or two to get one vid sifted I think... it takes a while until people are sure you're not promoting your own vids, and you'll tend not to get many votes during that time.

p.s. If Orange Sky is your youtube channel, you'd better discard the two vids from there and find other vids to post instead. You discard by putting a comment on the video that reads *discard

Well, yeah, that's pretty depressing too.

To me, the really depressing thing is this was just one of dozens if not hundreds of similarly decrepit dams ready to fall apart. We got incredibly lucky with this one, I expect we probably won't stay lucky for long and one will fail in our next really wet rainy season....disastrously.
America sucks at upkeep.

I haven't watched it yet, but plan to. I'm subscribed to his channel, he has a lot of good stuff.

The interesting thing about the failure is that there wasn't just one cause, but as is often the case a whole bunch of things that conspired to cause it.

The depressing thing about it is that the authorities had been warned about it for over 10 years before the failure, but ignored the warnings

The Oroville spillway decision making sounded like a plot for a disaster movie with a happy ending. Interesting and scary stuff. Thought it might interest you and @oritteropo

Thanks

I was never overly carnivorous, but have also ended up eating closer to a Mediterranean diet lately to try to be healthier.

*Promote because this is exactly the path I'm on right now.
I'll never be vegan, but reducing my meat intake and adopting a Mediterranean diet is part of me trying to eat and be healthier.
