Kung Fu Sex--uh, it is NOT safe for work

dystopianfuturetoday says...

I spent a short time in Europe and saw some R rated stuff on basic TV, including a sex show (in London) where a grandmotherly woman showed how to give a handjob on a banana and plenty of full nudity in France. It's true that I didn't see anything as zany as the above video.

How to lose your job as a weatherman

8266 says...

Zany weather guy Mark Mathis, 38, who was fired from Charlotte's WCCB-18-Fox in November (Market #28) because the station felt "publicly humiliated" by his decision to seek treatment for alcoholism, has been hired as the new weather guesser at KREX-5-CBS in Grand Junction, Colorado (Market #189). He will replace Jarrod Luber, 32, who was found dead in October 2003 at the base of Red Canyon overlook in the Colorado National Monument. He fell approximately 250 feet. Investigators later ruled his death a suicide. Mathis will start at KREX later this month.

I was incredibly irritated because the hotel I was staying in had the audio CRAP OUT when this episode aired, so I saw this entire episode with the sound off. Oh man, it's FREAKING AWESOME now that I can hear the zaniness as well as watch. Yay Sift!

Jack Black's Breakout Role: High Fidelity

winkler1 says...

"A self-indulgent character like Rob requires funny sidekicks to break the tension, and HIGH FIDELITY boasts two of them. Jack Black, in the manic fat-boy role, sweats and swaggers his way through the picture as Barry, the music snob who'll refuse to sell a record merely because he doesn't like the buyer's face. Black is one of those hard-working character actors in search of a breakout role, and this is it. Ferociously zany in the tradition of Chris Farley without once making Farley's mistake of going too far over the top, Black is the perfect antidote to Rob's dour negativism."

The ladies love Ben Affleck, even when he's really drunk

theo47 says...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne-Marie_Losique#Ben_Affleck_interviews

A well-known staple of Box-Office with Losique are the interviews she conducted with American actor Ben Affleck. For every occasion, he would drop into a corny stereotypical French accent (rather sounding like France French, not Quebec French), acting as if they were already in a sexual relationship ("All you wanna do is have sex all the time. You don't wanna talk, you don't wanna hold me..."), teasing Losique to her uncontrollable amusement, making her sit upon his lap, hugging her, going on about Montreal and the Quebecois ("Québécois libres!"). He would, with accent, make statements imitating stereotypes of criticisms French-speaking people and foreigners have of Americans.

Known for an affection for Montreal, Affleck showed a certain level of knowledge of Quebec in these humorous encounters. He once went into a zany story where he likened the affairs of Quebecers to the heroic struggle of a French cheese liberating itself from an English cheese ("I am French and I be free!"). He would also speak of an admiration for Quebec nationalism icon, former Premier of Quebec René Lévesque, jokingly stating that he thought of legally changing his name to "René Lévesque" (he repeated this to the crew of Flash, an Quebecois entertainment television show). Unknown for years by most Americans, one of those segments, filmed in 2004 during promotion for the movie Jersey Girl, gained substantial fame as a viral video on American and international internet blogs. On September 20, 2006, a Google "Affleck+Losique" query returned aproximately 80,000 hits.

Revisiting Media (Sift Talk Post)

Krupo says...

Reminds me of watching Growing Pains and Full House [shudder]... and thinking that when you get older you'll be grounded every weekend for the zany schemes you're going to get into.

I'm done shuddering now. Instead I'll just post a link to something completely unreleated but which I don't wish to start-up as a seperate blog post:

Buddy ran a private jail in Afghanistan!?!?

I do believe that the supposedly unrelated story actually has something related to your comment: sounds like a TGIF zany scheme gone too far! (Or a shady under the table arrangement with the CIA and DOD, whatever).

Hellzapoppin' lindy hop

oohahh says...

Youtube comments:

From Hellzapoppin' (1941), the hilarious Hollywood production directed by H.C. Pootter and starring zany commdians Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson, this clip features Rex Stewart (co), Jap Jones (tb), Elemer Fane (cl), unknown (ts), Slim Galliard (p,g,tap-dancing), Slam Stewart (b), Cee Pee Johnson (d), The Harlem Congaroos (dancers, AKA Whitey's Lindyhoppers).

http://www.savoystyle.com/hellzapoppin.html
"This movie, based on a hit Broadway play, showcases Whitey's Lindy Hoppers dancing the most famous and most spectacular Lindy Hop scene ever preserved on film. The dancing was choreographed by Frankie Manning.

"The scene starts when musicians Slim Galliard and Slam Stewart, in workmen's garb, discover some musical instruments while supposedly delivering a package backstage. They play a few tentative notes, and a spontaneous, swinging jam starts cooking . More backstage 'workers' join the jam, including Rex Stuart on trumpet and C.C. Johnson on the 'bongo drums'. The music builds in excitement until, as if out of nowhere, four Lindy Hopping couples, dressed in overalls and uniforms, swing out into the cameras at a frenetic tempo. Each couple executes amazing acrobatic shines. Then the group unites for precision ensemble work filmed at an angle that emphasizes legwork and speed.

"The choreography and the dancing are as near to perfect Lindy Hop as you can see anywhere! The scene will take your breath away no matter how many times you see it. It is no wonder that this film was responsible for the simultaneous revival of Lindy Hop in Sweden and Britain in the 1980's.

"An interesting sidenote: Whitey's Lindy Hoppers' routine in Hellzapoppin' was originally danced and choreographed to different music, namely 'Jumping at the Woodside'. Universal Studios had a composer who was on staff write new music for the routine."
