I have absolutely no issue with adding a highly processed, low fat, high protein meat by-product to my ground beef. At least it's actual animal protein and not some additive or filler that has no business being in food at all. Try checking your food labels for cellulose. Mmm...that's yummy!
And let's stop pretending they're marinating this meat in ammonia. The ammonia gas process to kill bacteria has been done to your food for about a hundred years.
I guess that makes it good for you...enjoy cancer.

I do support food technology, but there is a difference between something being completely safe and completely gross. Dirt might be completely sanitary to eat, or toilet boils to eat out of...sure is gross though.

Dude Famous audience members...so far I've seen Jonathan Ross, Charlie Brooker with his wife Konnie Huq.
Peter Snow and his son Dan too, not that we're getting caught up in the celebrity aspect (hasn't Brooker done well for himself, Konnie Huq is yummy!).
Jim Al-Khalili is probably the smartest person there, I've seen a few of his documentaries on the BBC. He's Iraqi I think, and he's nuclear physicist with an Arabic name so he's probably never got on a flight without getting a cavity search before
Jim Al-Khalili's shows are better than Cox's big budget, smiley, standing on a mountain while a helicopter flies around style of pop science programming.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU FUCKING LIKE!??! Jesus Christ I thought I was a Cynic. Get the fuck out with your self loathing over critical bullshit you fucking faggot!

I can report that the one in the photos went extremely well with beef sausages and wholegrain mustard.
Thanks for your answer, you've confirmed that we've been calling it exactly what a German would most likely call it too (except perhaps in German and not English).
I would put in a few juniper berries too if they were more obtainable here.

hi there,
never heard of a name for it, though I'm not a specialist on German cuisine I can imagine that for having around a million recipes for "sauerkraut and potatoes" there is no special name other than what it consists of. It's definitely a popular side dish around here. Fits amazingly well with any kind of meat, i.e. salted pork leg, roast, steak, etc.

Greetings and salutations.
Something's been bugging me... I cook this dish which starts with onion and carraway seeds cooked in olive oil, then I add parboiled potato and coat with oil, then cover with sauerkraut and cook on the back burner on low heat until the rest of my meal is done. Actually that part doesn't bug me at all, it's extremely yummy : What does bug me though is not knowing whether this is a German dish, whether it's all or only part of Germany, and what it's called.
