Titanfall Gameplay video @ 1440p

RFlagg says...

It was one of the best games I've ever played. Certainly the best shooter. That PC beta period didn't last nearly long enough and can't wait to play it again. I had an i3 530 and nVidia 450 GTS at the time and still got fairly good graphics on my 1600x900 monitor... By March 11th I should have a new i7 4770k and an nVidia GTX 770 and a 1080p monitor so win there... Quad Titans on the system shown though is insane... And can the XBox One even do the game on 1080p or was it locked to 720p like most other titles? Which is the crazy part... I mean, I might get an XBox One Titanfall edition since you get the game and a headset for no additional cost, and Destiny sadly isn't coming to PC for some odd reason.

Yeah, because the XBox knows when you're in the middle of a round having the game of your life and a pissed off wife and crying get home and you need to get out asap... ; )

I think Orz means that the Xbox should "know" when you're actively playing a game and probably wouldn't ever actually want to log out. it should essentially determine that you're still inputting commands with your controller and you must be doing that for a reason. Just my 2 cents.

Actually what I mean is, they made a console that responds to voice commands but didn't think that there should be words or names to be blacklisted. I realize that the voice command capabilities have to do with Kinect, but considering nearly every vocal command starts with "Xbox", any usernames starting with the same word or letters (it is voice recognition software after all) should have been unable to be registered as a valid profile name. It is a major over site by either the programmers of the software or by the people who tested the product to 'work the bugs out'.

Exactly what do you propose they should have tested? Do you seriously think the console should be able to understand the semantics of natural language (i.e. tell the difference between "xbox, sign out" and "xbox sign out is trolling me")?

I used to do a similar thing in university. We did a lot of work on VAX machines. Because there were a limited number of terminals, once you signed out, you were locked out for 30 mins.

When I needed a terminal I'd say to first year students, "hey remember logo? They just installed it." Student would then type "logo" at the command prompt, which the os would automatically lengthen to "logout".... oh, you're done with that terminal? thanks

Once again, I am horrified at the number of pre-teen kids playing CoD online.

A fine example of why there should always be "thorough" beta testing. Microsoft = Fail

online PC gaming is slightly more mature than xbox. I tried a few times to play xbox 360 online, each match devolved into the same pre-teen squealing in my ear. Cancelled xbox Live Gold as soon as Netflix app was on PS3. Never looked back.

About as sick of atheists trying to rationalize their point of view as I am Christians or Muslims, Zorasters or Svengalians trying to do the same through equally nefarious methodologies namely, Socratic method or tired, Platonic argument.

Get a box! Eat a peach! Enjoy the fucking ride for fucksake already !

Xbox One Kinect Calls Foul on Bad Language

Lawdeedaw says...

Because people want them "real" as possible. I am fine with the old games on NES because I don't care. But if you bought the Xbox one well then you obviously need it as close to life to feel complete as possible. His desire, not mine.

Also, didn't know a player was a commentator? Was he just spectating the game and not involved in "playing?" If so I can understand. John Madden used to do this all the time...

newtboy said:

Ahhh, but if we're going to use the 'would it happen in real life?' postulate, I would point out that he was commenting as if he were a commentator, not as a player, so why was one player/team penalized?
I don't know why that would be a decent reason for this kind of thing either, most games are NOT like real life in most ways, even this game has many elements in it that are completely unrealistic in order to make it a fun, playable game. If the Xbox1 is going for this kind of unrealistic realism across the board, I think I'll stick with my ps3. I play games for fun, not to allow the speech police in my home. (That said, I don't play online or use the microphone/speech feature, so this likely wouldn't ever happen to me).
I'm just guessing, but is this a feature of multiplayer meant to keep people from spouting obscenities in quasi-public arenas in order to limit customer exposure to unwanted cursing? That would actually be reasonable, especially if it can be turned off with the agreement of both players in an online game.

Xbox One Kinect Calls Foul on Bad Language

Shepppard says...

It does? Since when does PS4 require an always-listening device to play any of its games?

It doesn't? And navigating most of the U.I. is damn near impossible without that piece of equipment on Xb1? well, shit. Guess it's a good thing people are defending a useless trinket that should never have been the focus of a console then.

Seriously, go ahead and back up whatever console you prefer, but Xbox One was supposed to be online-only, and always have a kinect, and a lot of the aspects of the console show it. In a battle where graphics are now essentially moot (Both consoles are beefy enough that they really don't matter anymore)
the comparisons fall to the features they can provide.

Is walking into a room and saying "Xbox on" and having it turn on your stuff cool? Yeah. it is. Is that worth an extra 100 bucks? not to me, it's not.

TheFreak said:

Some people in this discussion are expressing pretty negative reactions towards XBox One and Kinect 2.0 over this feature.

Guess what. It's the game developer who added this feature, not XBox or Kinect. Go complain to 2K Games.

But then, that would have occurred to you if you didn't have such a hardon for bashing XBox. Still want to bash Microsoft over this? Oh, wait...PS4 has the same feature in these games! If you're the type of person to go into a rage spin over something like this then turn the feature off.
