yah, i've worked in industry. you can have serial numbers but you cannot call it CE (consumer edition).

I've used a similar tablet in a real hospital and they were truly awful sysems, unreliable with about 20 mins battery life and terrible touch screen. The hospital probably paid millions for them and i wouldn't be surprised if the internals were as here.

I loved the brick phone with the touch screen. That was immensely retro.

All I can say is when I cut out squares in a piece of paper, I could see a difference until they 'masked off' the image, then it had changed. I know these can work without fudging, which is why I was disappointed.
Did you note the difference between the 'colored' image and the 'masked off' image? It sure seems like there's a difference to me, if I stop it 1/2 way through and cover all but 2 squares, one is slightly lighter than the other on my monitor. That went for both the cubes and the floor tiles. Maybe it's 'eye memory' or something, but it sure seemed to me that the center tile was noticeably lighter until the 'masking off' happened.
I used a piece of paper against my monitor to measure the table,....I must have moved it when marking it, because now when I do it, it seems the tables ARE the same size. Damn touch screen, kept starting the video every time I touched it.
If those lines were really pixel straight, my paper is cut with a curve or my monitor has a problem.

EDIT: Just a thought why I may have seen it differently, do you think it's possible that 'light bleed' or 'color bleed' on my monitor has anything to do with it? I mean, since the pixel next to the 'grey' block might be glowing bright yellow, it could color the grey slightly yellow, while the RGB value would not change?

But that wouldn't have multiple touch screen gauges and weapon selects!

lol - yes, I use a Mac, and enjoy using it after years of preferring windows - My laptop has Win7. I just updated from Mountain Lion to Maverics. Not sure if I want Yosemite, but my system at work is updating to it this month.

My daughter, very clearly pointed out that there is no point her having the new laptop or hers (which she paid for herself) with the touch screen, if she can't use the Apps downloaded from the Store. That's where the power is or intent of the whole touch screen experience.

(also I must mention, - my error - she has 8.1 and not just 8 )(Though I'm not really seeing the difference, but I'm not the one using it, just the one who needs to trouble-shoot and keep the thing running.)

Both my daughter's and my son's schools have touch screen boards on the walls..., occasionaly blackboards, some white boards..., but mostly touch screen boards.

I agree, film needs visual cues, but making her vision work like a touch screen is a HORRIBLE device for that....at least to me.

I just hate movies that give the impression that they thought up some inventive method to make their insanity make sense, then crap out at the end and say "it was a dream, no explanation needed". That's simply poor writing and lack of imagination to me. (I must say it does one positive thing for me, it leaves the end a tragedy after building to a 'win' for the hero....but in an incredibly cheap and unsatisfying way).
Far better for me is how they did it in "Wages of Fear" (my favorite movie, from the 50's) where the hard fought survival and triumph can be ruined by a moment of inattentive joy.

I hate that she has amazing mental powers, but still needs to wave her hand at things to use those mental powers, like the drug had turned the world into a touch screen. Looks fun, but DUH.

EDIT: Oh NOOOO! Did I just figure out that most of this movie (all the good parts) is going to turn out to be her hallucination due to overdose of the drug she's carrying, then she'll die at the end of the overdose (like Suckerpunch)?

I have a smartphone, but I dont use it much. Well I do use it much, but 99% of the time as a desk clock/alarm clock. Much prettier and far less power consuming than one of these radio clocks, plus a bigger display and many more options as a clock. Of course I also use it as a smartphone, but very rarely. For example I dont use it to spend my time in the doctors waiting room. I do check my emails when I am out, but only when I have free time, as in taking a break. The most important uses for me on a smartphone are not really usable anyway. Surfing on the Internet is far too clunky with a tiny touch screen and having to turn on GPS and waiting 10 mins for it to get a fix makes using it stupid too. I wont keep GPS on permanently after all this NSA crap and because it simply sucks the battery dry even quicker.

However the more I think about phones and how I see them in the future. I don't see them remaining as a one device "thing" like it is now.

I see them being more like a PC. With a processor/storage/etc "brain" bit, a display, extra stuff you have now like headphones etc....and maybe a battery/powering device although I'd hope eventually batteries wouldn't need to be as big as they are...or solar/some other kind of wireless power shows up.

The reason I see it this way is that eventually we're going to have displays where having a big chunk of extra stuff attached to it is going to be really damn annoying....like google glass....or displays that be rolled up....or holographic..or whatever. And I hope we advance past touch screens, because I really dislike them. Really don't like having my finger/hand in the way of what I'm trying to see/accomplish.

So people are going to want a display of choice when "other" stuff shows up.

Then the other guts of the phone....well if you can get them in a case that fits in your pocket, wristwatch, wallet, shoe, keychain, whatever...they are going to be a lot harder to break and need replaced less...or be pretty cheap. Plus if done right they could tie into your home, car, office, etc for more processing power if needed. Then work as more of a conduit to your display than the main processor in circumstances where you're near faster devices.

So in essence, your display would replace a lot of "other" displays potentially as your brain unit connects to other devices to serve up it's abilities to your display....tv, home pc, work pc, car hud, etc.

Course there'd need to be some speed increases in wireless communications...and either some sort of wireless power or some big changes in batteries.

It's also my hope this is the way it goes, because carrying around tech like a phone and trying to work with a tiny display just wears me out.

I like the idea of a touch pad on the controller that isn't a gimmick (i.e. wiiu controller, which as of now can only use one touch screen).

If I could toss all my home theater crap in a closet so I never have to see it again, I would. (if I didn't have to fill my closet with snowgear I would have done this.) But I look at a spending $600- $800 on a console as crazy. If I'm going to buy something I need the games, better cords, more controllers, some memory card i won't use, more games, strat guides, etc.. Gosh that is expensive, who does that?!

Then I look to my "new" computer which it will be used to surf here and some games --that's it. It currently sits in boxes. The new box is halfway built, still lacking a mobo/ram/psu and I have about $800 invested in it. Probably going to dump easily another 400 to 500 in it, but that okay in my messed-up-I-need-this-to-live-mind.

I'm assuming the mouse came into being and obsoleted the touch screen technology before it even took off. I mean who wants fingerprints all over their computer screen.
