A piece on the news telling about how they have to tunnel underneath israel into egypt (?) in order to get important food, water and medical supplies out came on TV the other night, and he said "There's no way they're getting food and water in through there." Case closed, for him.

I disagree with Tony Benn on many issues, but I can't help but admire the guy. One of the few politicians who always told it as he saw it. Quite a change from the spin and lies we've become accustomed to.

The BBC, prior to the Hutton enquiry, would have aired this appeal. Bravery not only to the brilliant Tony Benn, but to the news editors that got him on there knowing full well what he was going to do.

The BBC coverage of this conflict all but stopped after the initial 3 days.

A 'bravery' tag? Are you kidding me? Did I miss the sift where Tony Benn fought through arm guards into the studio and demanded to be interviewed on live TV? There was me thinking that they just phoned him up and asked him to come on national TV for a softball interview knowing full well what his views are and that he had already done exactly the same thing earlier.

I guess I also missed the bit where the BBC is somehow trying to suppress the details of this charity rather than just wanting to distance themselves editorially from it. Having this story on the front page of their news site for 2 days must have confused me.
